Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

The paperclip button next to the thread shows only the filenames of the images in a separate window. Is there a way to actually see the images themselves back to back in a webpage? If not, can we have it? Would be useful for car launch updates and travelogues.

Sorry, there's no way to view all the thumbnails of pics in a thread together at the moment. It is something we'd like to add in the future.

For section-specific photo browsing, do take a look at the gallery :

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

There seems to be a considerable number of TBHP sticker sightings posted in the thread where the pictures were taken by the driver in a moving vehicle. Considering the general outlook of the forum in discouraging anything that involves violating the laws, this seems like an anomaly to have pictures on our forum that clearly indicates the mobile phone usage during driving by our own registered members.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Have comment up vote system

Use case

Search for a topic

Find the thread you are looking for

Go through 300+ pages to find what you are looking for

Search thread doesn't help as you don't exactly know what you are looking for just know the general direction and that's how you found the thread.

Suggestion Something like
http://disqus.com/websites/

New experience
Thread starts->
Whats the best store for XYZ in ABC State
Actual stores with common experience get up voted. 2years later some one comes in and finds the list of stores on the first 2 pages!

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

The past few reviews have some great photos. Especially the Santa Fe review. Cropping those images didn't result in a good photo for my desktop.

With each review, can we have Team-BHP branded desktop wallpapers for that car?

Just curious, what it the guarantee that the same store is still the best 2 years later? Unless we know the time period of votes, it would be difficult to assess if the store at #10 is actually gaining fast on the ones above while the one at #1 is coming down fast. There is a possibility that #1 might be at the bottom of the list if we just look at the votes in last 3-6 months. Would you still want to go with them?

Take this example- Renault Duster was a huge success and was VFM in the initial days. So a lot of early reviews of that period would point to the same. However, with several hikes, Duster moved itself up a segment on the pricing front and was no longer a VFM choice since its competitors changed. So the more recent comments are likely to be the more useful ones.

With any system that jumbles the time order of posts, it could get confusing for the users in separating ancient history from the current affairs.

True, though would say that can mark when a new thread should start.

Well the main problem is -
You get to the important information in a thread as quickly as possible. If there is another way to solve it that might be the answer.

Would say it now - search is not Search is good for getting you to the thread.

If you see something that is a blatant violation - do comment on the thread politely. Perhaps that will make the poster think twice the next time. After all, safety is more important than sticker spottings!

There's no doubt that Q&A formats and non-linear display systems are better for specific types of topics. However, at the moment we're greatly limited by the software we run and its capabilities. We do however have a good understanding of how nice these features would be to have... for when the time comes to move to a different software.

PM me the links of a few of the photos you want. I'll try and post them in this thread.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Will it be possible to have a status report on reported posts? This will serve two purposes:

1. Reduce repeated reporting of the same post by different members thereby reducing mods resources.

2. Help the post reporter track the status of the reported post.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Editing your profile (to change current location, for example) requires you to fill in all the information that you would fill when joining the forum. Like "which policy is important", "which is your favorite car" etc where one-line answers are not allowed.

I should be able to go and enter the name of my new city and save it.

Hi WWW,

I think this was brought up before. It would be nice, but its not top priority + adds additional work for the mods for each RP.

What I can assure you of is that every RP gets looked at - and if its questionable, we discuss it before deciding to act or not.

Sorry about that. Those "required" fields were added later on - so it doesn't allow you to re-save your profile without entering text there.

In this case you can just enter dummy text. The new fields are not visible to members. (They are part of the 'new' registration requirements).

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

I had uploaded an image to Imgur (on purpose; image in question) some time back and it has automatically been uploaded to the forum’s servers a few months later! And it doesn't have the watermark.

Does the forum’s system automatically do that if we were to upload the images to other hosts? Because .gifs have a limitation of 1 MB, we share the imgur link. Thus asking.

Yes, posts are scanned roughly every minute, and images that are externally hosted are moved over to our server.

If you edit your post later on in the 30 minute window (say, to include something more), the image script then does not re-scan the post. *hint*hint*

Thanks Mods for keeping TBHP a wonderful place. I would like to ask if it will be nice to have an arrangement where the posters would be able to delete pictures posted by them in past?
