Yes. Something like this:
Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians-imageuploadedbyteambhp1493061772.876808.jpg

Please excuse me for the bad picture quality. This should give you an idea of what I mean.

Simple solution, give extra area around the border of the image so the watermark doesn't hamper the image data.

Example of an image below that I uploaded in the March 2017 - Motorcycle Sales thread :

Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians-market-share-mahindra.jpg

I have made it an habit to give extra area around the image so the watermark stays clear at the bottom left of the image.

If the extra area isn't given, it eats into the image affecting readability.

Hope this helps!

Not sure if this was discussed on any of the earlier posts.

How about enabling the Thanks Button on non-auto threads ?

Discussed regularly!

It leads to overuse on things like joke threads rather than for serious contributions.

However, last discussion, a review was promissed.

I don't think it happened. Nudge Nudge!

To have only useful links placed at the top takes a lot of manual organizing / hand-picking.

What we try to do when there's a critical link or update in a thread is either copy it to the first post, or have the first post link to it. However, naturally we can't do this in all cases (and with varying degrees of how important the additional content is).

However, if you ever come across such a situation, do report the post (eg. on pg 20) with additional/critical info, and we'll consider making an edit to first post of the thread to link to it

Some threads even have an "index" post, which is a pretty cool & useful system.

We try to do this, however, 99% of the time the manufacturer only has the top variant present for media drives.

Occasionally another transmission (eg. AT) will have a different spec'd top variant - though in those cases (multiple transmissions on offer) we are usually really pressed for time! Though sometimes we still manage to do it : example

Yes, this is indeed a shortcoming of the watermark - usually seen on graphs. A workaround is to add some more border to the bottom of these images. We'll definitely try to address this when we update the watermark.

Actually, we did look into it!

The idea was to enable the Thanks button for posts in those sections, but not have those thanks count towards the total count.

I took a very detailed look into Thanks system, and unfortunately the way it's built makes this pretty impossible without a major overhaul.

Thanks for that. I understand, from what was said back then, that thanks for jokes is not appropriate (although the bell-on-a-wall thread is in a thankable section). But, for serious, even if non-motoring, stuff, why not have thanks count?

Not so much a direct question, but a suggestion that that principle might be reappraised.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Of late that is for the last 1-1.5 months, I have started getting this error on my Windows 10 laptop. What could be the problem? The site works correctly on my office Windows 10 PC. The browser is Firefox on both machines.

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

Yes - so team-bhp needs to implement https rather than plain http, for modern browsers to stop complaining about this. For some reason - possibly webserver config - https://www.team-bhp.com works and has a perfectly good certificate.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum redirects to the plain old http version of the site so your browser may warn you about this.

Yep, I wanted to point this out here for a while now. The HTTPS version is fully functional; I have been using it exclusively for about 6 months now. I use different themes on the HTTP and HTTPS versions so I can quickly tell which one I am on. In most use-cases everything works fine; but these are the niggles:

1. Links from search engines go to HTTP rather than HTTPS.
2. Most people, when linking to posts, use the HTTP version.
3. Some internal links are hard-coded to HTTP.

On a different note, if I search for any string containing '@', I get a database error. Hopefully there are no side effects to this (SQL injection?). Admin might want to investigate.

There's no "problem" as such. However, browsers are now starting to take a stance against unencrypted sites - which is a good move on their part!

The simple fix is to ensure you are viewing the https version of Team-BHP.

Simply change your bookmarks to start with https:// instead of http://

That will remove the warning and give you a green lock in your address bar.

Yes, it's been fully functional for several months. However, the final switch-over to httpS-only is pending.

This seems to just be the redirect to add the trailing slash "/" that is shifting for https to http. All other URLs will work fine

Good tip!

This is a mixed bag. Sometimes its http, others https. I imagine this will continue to change in favour of https.

Yeah. A final redirect will fix this.

We'll also be making an effort to link to https rather than http going forward!

Probably just a vBulletin bug.

Thanks Rehaan, Hserus! Changing the shortcut link to https made it work correctly now!

Yeah - https://www.team-bhp.com/forum without the trailing slash redirects to http. You might want to try this in your .htaccess for a consistent policy

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1 [L,R]

for no trailing slash

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*[^/])$ /$1/ [L,R]

if you always want the trailing slash.

See which works best with vbulletin. @binand - crosscheck my apache please?

Re: Suggestions for Team-BHP from Team-BHPians

The travelogues section contains threads for both domestic and overseas travel experiences. Will it not be better if they are segregated as Domestic and Overseas / International travelogues ?
