My search for LPG named threads have always come a cropper inspite of their being at least 3 threads in this title.

yup 3 letter words do pose a problem. minimum you need is 4 letters. you can try searching on google and add the site:team-bhp.com after the search.

Why cannot google search be integrated into team-bhp itself, would it not be easier that way.

That is because the minimum search term has to be 4 alphabets long.

Too much clutter from their advertisements on the results page.

Shouldn't that be addressed? People search for LPG & since it is not found, start a new thread which makes the discussion scattered.

Ok, this may not a required enhancement for 90% of the users. I am talking about the mobile friendly user interface pages. At times i browse tbhp before going to sleep using my Windows Mobile phone and rendering the full page on the tiny screen is not great.
I am a regular on another forum www.aximsite.com which uses the same forums software. They have the mobile friendly ui and it is quite easier to navigate on those page and also is very user friendly to read on phone screen. It lacks few features that the desktop version has but that is ok when one is reading the postings on mobile phone.
I believe there is a group of users who use windows mobile phones and other phones that can load non-wap sites to browse tbhp. I think many mobile phone can load any sites using browsers like Opera mini. I am not sure about the costs involved. I think it's only a new skin.

Hi esteem lover,

We use the mysql full text search method, which apparently, I have limited control over. It can only be changed at the server level. I have asked our hosting company to make the required changes.

If possible, it will be done.

Thanks.

I'd also like a mobile-friendly skin/interface very much. Not an essential, but it would definitely help. I also log on from my Pocket PC (Windows PPC 2003 SE) with Opera 8.6 and I find navigating & posting a bit of a pain.

It is ok with the formatting on Opera Mobile too. But either the characters are too small to read for more than few mins or the screen goes out of bounds of the screen real estate with charaters that are bigger.

The other site i mentioned is easy to read with bigger characters and the page still with in the bounds of the screen. Basically the mobile skin puts the text in a different format. There is no left column with the user details and the entire width is used by the post and the user details are displayed in a line above the post. I will try to post the screen from my phone some time.

Mobile skin vs Regular skin

My phone has vga screen so i could get bigger screen captures. The quality may not be this good with regular qvga screens.

Hi Satish,

Heres a workaround > click on "Thread Tools" > "Show printable version"

It will hide the avatar pics etc that seemed to be taking up a lot of space on your screen, and will still display pics posted in threads etc!

Hey, can i suggest something??
I think for newbies (like me), whatever they post, be it a new thread or a reply, it first has to be permitted by the moderator. Cant that rule be relaxed??

Hey NeedaUsername,

Originally we didnt have this method of approving newbie posts.
However, things took a turn for the worse and there were several reasons why we decided to implement this system.
Overall, i think it works well at what its supposed to do (mainly : reduce spam, improve the quality of posts, familiarize mods with new members and their posting styles//quality)

Usually there is a mod online 24/7 and approving posts can take anywhere from 1min to 5-6hours (average being around 15minutes), which is a very good turnaround time when compared to other such systems!
