I had requested your first item a while ago and was turned down saying it was not necessary or something to that effect (I do not remember the exact response).

I think it is a very useful thing to have. I usually click on "New Posts" every day, and sometimes I see an interesting looking topic and open it, only to find that the post was created a few years ago and is really no longer relevant (or in some cases even valid because things have changed) in spite of its having new posts.

Do not see this to be necessary if one looks at number of replies & thread views. If thread has few replies, then it indicates recent thread; similarly for thread views. Some threads (travelogues) may have less replies but plenty of views. Additionally, some threads reside in assembly line for long time before they get published for public view.

Yes, but we cant generalize. We are not too worried about < 6 months old thread, but years old which doesn't hold ground now.

Aware of this too, but the sorting is based on each section of the forum. But I am looking at on a whole. To be more precise,

1. Top 10 most viewed thread
2. Top 10 most replied thread

This way we can identify the trending topics, most interested area of Team-BHP members et al.

With regard to threads with polls, would it be possible to add a feature wherein the member knows which option he/she has selected in that poll.
If you refer to Twitter polls, after you have voted in a poll, if you revisit that tweet at a later time, your selection has a tick mark.
Could this be incorporated in the threads with polls.

The option you voted for gets italicized.

Also, if you click on the numbers (for any of the options), it opens up the list of BHPians who have voted for each option (this part only works for public polls).

Could we have the search option to be able to search for phrases rather than the occurrence of individual words in the phrase? Typically, google search for example, treats all that is put within double quotes to be searched for as a phrase rather than as individual elements.

I also find it difficult to search for terms that are less than 4 characters long. For instance, I have been unable to search for "TSI".
