Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

This is what I finally did. I used IShopInternational.com to order XXL size Hanes sleeved T-shirts from Amazon.com (pack of 4 - 2 blue & 2 green). Even with shipping, it came to just Rs. 1400. I got it within 10 days.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

Recently I noted that all Pantaloon outlets in Mumbai have separate PLUS size section and if you are looking for any item in regular sizes you have placards mentioning that same things are available in PLUS size too. I LIKE.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

I shopped a couple of times recently at 'ALL' shops - these are part of the pantaloon shop. There are lots of independent 'ALL' shops in Bombay plus even Pantaloon shops stock ALL brand clothes. Their quality is good and prices are reasonable.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

Bumping this thread to seek more options other than mentioned here (Like aLL outlets or within pantaloons).
Is the Clothes Rack still open ?
I am planning to go to Laxmi Industrial Estate area tomorrow and will be visiting aLL outlet. If clothes rack is open, I can try there as well.
Also there is XMex clothings in Lokhandwala.

Btw what is the exact location of Clothes Rack ?

ALL will no longer be available in Pantaloon stores. They will have their own outlets. Some places this model is already implemented and for others, the transition is in progress.

The new plus size brand that would be available in Pantaloons is - ALTO MODA

It's already available in Pantaloons store at Mantri Mall, Bangalore. A new ALL Store opened in Mantri Mall recently.

I had gone to Pantaloons in early July & they didn't have ALL stuff. They suggested ALTO MODA, but there was also an ALL independent store 5 minutes away, I ended up going to ALL. But has anyone tried out ALTO MODA - is it better/worse, cheaper/costly as compared to ALL?

Bought it in August this year. MRP 749/-

Was on offer with a discount of 50%, plus also got 50/- off for car parking.

Landing cost was around 350/-

Material is good; I have no qualms about it, but would rate ALL higher than this.

Will I buy more of this brand; definitely YES!

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

Just wanted to update here. I visited Clothes Rack in Borivali and Andheri. Borivali one currently has some sort of sale (Buy 2 get 1 free), something like that. Andheri one has no sale. The Andheri outlet is located in Laxmi Industrial estate and is no way on the road. If It is way inside towards the end if you start from Link road side (in the lane of Sab TV Office).
The do have large sizes. But I strongly suggest anyone going there to check lower sizes as well. Because there is a lot of difference between brands and their sizes.
But yes don't expect everything to be available in large sizes.
Btw they are export surplus or rejects or whatever you want to call them. Some of the brands I could recognize (and believe is not available in India, I may be wrong) were..

American Eagle
Old Navy
Ralph Lauren
Aeropostale

I could not identify other brands but I have never seen their stores in India either. In tshirts and such where the brand name is separate tag, they have cut it, but if it is printed on the tshirt itself then nothing is altered.

Wearing them now a days, overall rate them good in terms of cloth material and fit and quite comparable to ALL.
On price front , the trousers were in range of INR 1499-1899, shirts from 899-1599 and T-shirts from 499-1299.

I keep getting SMS-es every now & then about "Designpost - The PLUS size store", which is on R.K.Salai in Chennai (opposite Citi Center). Possibly useful to folks in Chennai.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

Offlate I have found Lifestyle selling tshirts from the brand Fahrenheit with size upto 5XL.
I have also found that the apparels from Puma follow international standards in measurements hence their XL is equivalent to or bigger than XXL of other brands which have separate size convention for asian markets(Asian XXL... from other prominent sports apparel brands)

Some of the brands/places I could suggest. Exclusive stores of most well known brands (Arrow, Zodiac, etc). The All store. Colour plus. And stores that sell export surplus such as Waves in Chennai. You could also check out Cool club.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

I prefer dry fit material so its mostly Puma stores / stuff which fits me. I didn't find good sporty tees in ALL the last time I tried them out.

Formals - Raymond's 80 denier (?) / high thread count Egyptian cotton shirts are my favorite. Never needed to look elsewhere.

Re: Wanted: GOOD Clothes for Plus Sized Males and Females

I guess even the term Plus sized leaves something open to the imagination.

I'm 1.96m, 90 kg.

In my home country, the Netherlands, my shirts are XL and my shoes are a 47

In the USA, I'm a medium, shoe size 12.5 (or simply straight of the peg!)

In the UK, my shirt size is difficult XXL at least, shoe size is unheard off!

When I walk into an Indian Clothes or Shoe shop they at best laugh or don't even look at me!

Lucky for me, lots of good tailors in India!
