Hindi Classes in Mumbai

Hello all,

Since we have such a diverse population on TBHP, I would like to request for some assistance.

Would any of you know of any classes that teach Hindi to foreigners? The area of the classes should be near Bandra/Khar/Santacruz.

Alternatively if anyone knows a tuition teacher who would conduct private tuitions at home, this too is welcome. Please note that we're not looking for a regular Hindi teacher (one who teaches Ka, Kha, Gha to children) but someone who can teach conversational Hindi to a foreigner.

Basically English to Hindi teaching.

I thank you in advance for your tips and contacts.

Have you looked up Indiamike. They have enough threads on suchlike topics and more importantly, many more people who've actually USED these services, not just read about them

That is a good suggestion. I am a member there (not active) and will either search or post a similar query.

When I first came to India I tried taking Hindi lessons. The teacher gave up when she saw a note I took for her (someone called her phone and I picked up). It read "Mr. Shaw called, pls call back". She wondered for a while who "Mr. Shaw" was untill "Mr. Shaw" called again. It was a "Mr. Shah".

My cousin's (Dutch) wife tried a couple of teachers but none of them were of any use. She will be back in Mumbai in a few days (Friday) so I will ask her if she has found anyone better.

Better yet, why not you be the teacher.

hey sam, you will need some with passion to teach.

my dad's friend married a czech lady, and when they came back to hyderabad, the aunty wanted to learn hindi and telugu, finally hindi was taught by my class teacher (i was in third class then) who had a proper passion for hindi and sanskrit. took them close to 6 months, but the teacher never gave up on patience.

here in this case, my mom approached my teacher directly and she after hearing the issue took it up asap. as an intial help, she even wrote down the pronounciations of the common hindi words in english and so-on. later on, i used them to practice my hindi
