Paris Air Show - Visit with Pictures

As many of you would be aware, there is a big air show going on in Paris at the moment. I had the oppurtunity to go yesterday with fellow Bhpian Vinod on a day where the show was not open for the general public but only for exhibitors and trade visitors. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to planes...so don't ask me about the technical aspects.

Here are some pics:

The Big Momma...A380. In reality it doesn't look longer than the 747 or 777 but it seems extremely bulky and chubby. Who says it needs special airports? This plane was being flown right there. And it was unbeleievable how agile it was considering its size and weight.

Here it is:

Whoa! That A380 looks mega! However it just looks kinda bloated, but then i guess its a case of form following function here.

Just a thought, how many of you think this plane is going to be a success like the 747 was? I have my doubts.

My first impression on seeing the A380 was my god what a behemoth! I can say this now as its now officially released - A few friends of mine were working on the A380 project. We got to see a lot of confidential stuff about the 380 before it was made public. Just amazing - the complexity and the extent to which the designers have gone to ensure the standards is just insane!

Would love to see one of those beauties thundering past above the inner ring road

Is the Boeing 777 out yet? This Airbus-Boeing passenger war reminds me of the horsepower war car companies have taken to.

The A 380 looks like the Super Guppy, with a smaller lump on the head. Aviation is the only industry where we have actually taken a step back, after the demise of the Concorde.

I still think smaller sized long-range aircraft should be promoted. Can you imagine travelling aboard one of these A380s, and then the size of the immigration line at Chhtrapati Shivaji Airport. Plus the fact that quite a few of the smaller airports will have to upgrade their infrastructure just to accomodate these mammoths.

Smaller aircrafts also mean that smaller private players can enter into the competition, without becoming bankrupt in a couple of years, which means lots of cheap airline tickets.

But the fact, that they can get something the size of that off the ground, and make it do a cross Atlantic flight, is still bloody unbelieveable.
