@mithun I am not really sure, but it should not be an issue. ICICI bank, Citi Bank and Axis bank provide payment gateway services. Guess best thing to do is contact them.

You need not worry about things like SSL to begin with. Even if you do, it would cost like $30 - 50 per year.

For accepting credit cards, cost depends on volume of transactions. As volumes increase cost comes down (in terms of %).

Lowest volume cost:

1. Setup fees of approx 10k
2. Yearly fees of 2 - 4k
3. 7 -12% commission on "each" transaction

Highest volumes cost:

1. Setup/yearly fees of approx 2 -5lakh + cost of dedicated hardware + IP
3. 1.5 - 2.5% commission on "each" transaction

Integration if fairly straightforward. Security / SSL is taken care of by provide. Customers "do not" enter Credit Card details on your website. And you would not be able to access their details.

Customers would be taken to provider's website for actual payment processing. And that site would already have SSL / database encryption / quarterly pen tests / quarterly access audits etc etc.

Any reliable, cost-effective Dedicated server providers?

One of my friend wants to have a MOSS configured server for development of a application. He is has 2 options.

1. Get a static IP and plug in his own server.
2. Get a Dedicated server hosted somewhere and use it.

Financially and logistic-wise it makes more sense to have a Dedicated server rented for 3 or 4 months. But unable to get a reliable provider. Any pointers please?

He needs the server with Windows OS, MOSS, and its associated softwares.

Or any other ideas to get this done is also welcome. Thanks.

Don't know which of them offer windows (versus linux) but all are pretty solid providers.

Speed should be reasonable. Hits? No, he is not planing to host any server. Will be using this for his development of some Share point portal.

Thanks guys. He said he contacted oriensoft.com . Seems they were expensive. So, deal is not yet done. Will forward thee inputs too.

If your friend wants top-notch reliability & support for a fairly steep price, he should go for Rimu hosting:
Select Hosting Plan - RimuHosting

BUT I dont know whether they support windows.

The second, cheaper option is Dailyrazor:
Welcome to DailyRazor Web Hosting - Managed Linux & Windows Dedicated Servers, Java Hosting, JSP Hosting, Servlets, ASP.NET, ASP 3.0, PHP Hosting, Ruby Hosting, Ruby on Rails Hosting, Rails Hosting, VPS Hosting, VDS Hosting, Ecommerce Hosting, Small

They are not far behind in reliability and support either.

That means "Web hosts" are not for him.

Look at Amazon EC2. You can get a server in just a few minutes. And you pay every hour.

I use 2 - 8 CPU servers for testing things and never paid more than 1000 Rs month.

Last month, needed to download 180 GB data and process it. Would have taken weeks to do it from my home PC. Processed data output was about 4 GB.

Bought EC2 host for this. it completed the thing in 10 Hours and its cost was just 100 Rs. Once you are done with the task, just shut down the host and billing stops.

Yahoo has an integrated ecommerce solution that includes merchant services as well as payment gateways and shopping cart. However this is restricted to the US market only. Is anyone aware of such a service for the Indian market?
