Same here! I wanted to join the Indian Airforce but had to back out due to vision problems. But my cousin made it and is still serving and currently posted in Bangalore. I am so proud of him.

Back to the topic. A salute to all the Martyrs who gave up their lives for us.

Good one! Paying taxes and following rules of the constitution are among one of the things a true patriot can do.

>>> If we do just that - pay our taxes and duties regularly, and develop civic sense (don't litter, don't spit, observe the rules of the road, be patient etc.), our lives would be so much better.

We are a poor nation trying to stand up on its feet- and we can only do that if collectively we take care of the less fortunate, not by high profile, glitzy 'charity' but low profile, common sense policies from the government and private business. More and better education, health care, infrastructure and care of the environment.

If we do not develop our civic sense, we will not go anywhere.

We will get respect from the world when we respect ourselves and our constitution.

Regards

Respect to all the credit and uncredited for laying and risking their lives in the extreme of conditions.

Respect to the defence personnel is what's lacking in our country. I read somewhere that in some countr(y/ies), people actually leave their seats for soldiers in buses/trains. No offense to anybody, but here we'll only find fat old ladies muttering that a fit and fine soldier is sitting while they have to stand.

Re: Tenth Anniversary Of Kargil War: Jo shaheed huye hai unki, jara yaad karo qurbaan

Folks,

Today is the 12th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Let us take a moment to express our thanks to our brothers in arms who are the guardians of our borders & freedom, and epitomize the spirit of sacrifice conveyed by the inscription below:

"When You Go Home,
Tell Them Of Us And Say,
For Their Tomorrow,
We Gave Our Today"

If you have a war memorial in your city/town, please do visit it.

In remembrance and gratitude....

Vikram
