Mild tremor felt in Chennai- 11th Aug 2009, 1:30 AM!!

So I come back home from work and browse Team BHP, while the computer table started shaking left and right (It is not a sturdy one, and kinda shakes if even a kid leans on it). I take off my hands from the keyboard, make sure I am not touching it at all- and i feel my chair shake under me quite obviously!!!

Anyone else experienced this?

EDIT: It had just about started raining (Besant Nagar) when I felt the tremor, and in 10 minutes it has become a heavy rain...

I felt it too. It was a city wide earthquake. It started raining super heavily after the tremors. A mere coincidence??

Whoa! I didn't imagine it!

Yep. Me too.

I'm sitting in a rotating office chair, one leg up on the corner of the table, and really wondered if it was some muscle/nerve thing. It was like somebody standing behind me and just slightly moving the chair too and fro.

One small ornament on a spring was moving, but nothing else.

Thanks for the confirmation!

Couldnt have had better timing. I was testing my new external HDD and backing up data.. and then a tremor. Looks like we had this for about 10 secs ?

Me too ! I was sitting in my office cabin at Ambattur on a call with an onshore counterpart when the whole place started shaking. This is the first time I am experiencing this. I initially thought it was giddiness but then found my entire team rush out of the module. Back to work now !

Was it restricted to the east coast? Felt it in Bombay as well, and even woke the wife to tell her. The tremors were very mild, but it was kinda freaky. Closer to 1:35 am than 1:30 am though.
