Well what about car companies? Carmakers with names ending in vowels like Maruti, Honda, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai etc. sell a lot of cars. Whereas Ford, Fiat, VW etc. sell relatively few. I could be on to something here...

I don't know why, but I was Confounded by this thread ! Not to mention the feeling I had in my bowels. :uncontrol.

I don't know about Vowels and consonants, but has anyone noticed that most of the Auto names are named after places? Some Indian models, but mostly abroad.

Hyundai TUCSON
Toyota AVALON
Hyundai SANTA FE
Chevvy MALIBU
Chevvy COLORADO
GMC YUKON
Buick LUCERNE
Dodge DURANGO
Porsche CAYENNE
Ferrari's different models like MARANELLO, MODENA etc. But they have numbers as well.

Also, VW has this penchant for naming cars after mountains. BORA, PASSAT etc being examples.

Now I know, these guys just sit with a world atlas and pluck out names from them.

I would say this is the best thread I have seen. Some carmakers name it for what they mean like for Civic, Jazz, Legend, Integra (integrity?) etc.
With more focus on manufacturer than model all carmakers might end up adopting the numbers in future (BMW 330, 530, Merc C or S class, Acura TL, RL, TSX and now Hyundai with i10, i20)

Wonder what happened to Audi ?? They have I in the name I think it must be AUD-A and instead of 4 Os in the logo should have and extra 5th one like Olympics.

To make better handling cars the remaining manufactures should rename

Interestingly, all the Italian car makers (Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati etc.) have names ending in vowels, except Fiat. But then FIAT stands for

Torino
or "Made in Italy at Turin Automobiles". But then, as car aficionados, you'd have already known that...

Exactly - going through this thread prompted me think from where do the car maker get the name of the cars?

(The latest addition to the Ford family is Figo! But they had a Mondeo - does not begin with 'F' - is that 'F' is reserved for smaller class of cars?!)

Just think - "Logan" (?), "Optra" (?) - what do these names mean - not that they are bad cars, but if you hear the name first (before seeing the car), why kind of car will you be conjuring up?

May be we can start a poll / thread for the best and the worst car names!!!
