Methinks this thread has the potential to make it to the collection of best threads !!

What a random topic !! I'm really going to play spectator here and see what happens.

Well what about car companies? Carmakers with names ending in vowels like Maruti, Honda, Toyota, Mahindra, Hyundai etc. sell a lot of cars. Whereas Ford, Fiat, VW etc. sell relatively few. I could be on to something here...

Guys, forget earlier or latest, but has anybody ever noted that almost all car names have at least one vowel.
:uncontrol

maaaan...you guys will think of ANYTHING for a new thread ! lol !! Anyway, whats in a name ? :D

And definitely (not definately...) more than 1 consonant.... rl:

I don't know why, but I was Confounded by this thread ! Not to mention the feeling I had in my bowels. :uncontrol.

I don't know about Vowels and consonants, but has anyone noticed that most of the Auto names are named after places? Some Indian models, but mostly abroad.

Hyundai TUCSON
Toyota AVALON
Hyundai SANTA FE
Chevvy MALIBU
Chevvy COLORADO
GMC YUKON
Buick LUCERNE
Dodge DURANGO
Porsche CAYENNE
Ferrari's different models like MARANELLO, MODENA etc. But they have numbers as well.

Also, VW has this penchant for naming cars after mountains. BORA, PASSAT etc being examples.

Now I know, these guys just sit with a world atlas and pluck out names from them.

Has anyone ever noticed that when I joined Team-BHP my name ended in a consonant? And it now ends in a vowel?

Great thread! lol

I would say this is the best thread I have seen. Some carmakers name it for what they mean like for Civic, Jazz, Legend, Integra (integrity?) etc.
With more focus on manufacturer than model all carmakers might end up adopting the numbers in future (BMW 330, 530, Merc C or S class, Acura TL, RL, TSX and now Hyundai with i10, i20)

Indeed you are ! You will make a great numerologist !!! :thumbs up

To be successful in India, few companies have to change their names:
Ford >> FordA (Ford Automobiles)
Fiat >> FiatI (Fiat India)
VW >> VWO (VW autO)

Hope they are listening :D

Oh man, this thread has the most rl: ROFL, I thought it was only some time pass, now its officially a "Jhal Vikhero" thread. :uncontrol

@diabloo: Good one dude

Ford >> FordA (Ford Automobiles)
Fiat >> FiatI (Fiat India)
VW >> VWO (VW autO)

What about BMW -> BMW--O
Mercedes -> Merce DesI

Wonder what happened to Audi ?? They have I in the name I think it must be AUD-A and instead of 4 Os in the logo should have and extra 5th one like Olympics.

To make better handling cars the remaining manufactures should rename

Suzuk, Marut, Hond, Toyot, Nissan+I, Mazd, Mahindr-I, Hyunda

Man wanted Laughter.
God said Let there be laughter and spread uncontrolled N2O.

Add Ferari 599 GTB Fiorano to the list. Though not a Country/state , it is a municipality nevertheless where the Fiorano circuit is situated and the Chevorlet Monte Carlo!

Interestingly, all the Italian car makers (Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati etc.) have names ending in vowels, except Fiat. But then FIAT stands for
Fabricca
Italiana
Automobili
Torino
or "Made in Italy at Turin Automobiles". But then, as car aficionados, you'd have already known that...

wow, this is why i love this place, bhp and bhpian's can think anything to discuss about!

Exactly - going through this thread prompted me think from where do the car maker get the name of the cars?

(The latest addition to the Ford family is Figo! But they had a Mondeo - does not begin with 'F' - is that 'F' is reserved for smaller class of cars?!)

Just think - "Logan" (?), "Optra" (?) - what do these names mean - not that they are bad cars, but if you hear the name first (before seeing the car), why kind of car will you be conjuring up?

May be we can start a poll / thread for the best and the worst car names!!!

I mean it in the nicest way possible when i say, this has to be the weirdest thread i have come across on t-bhp.:D
