Tourism around Bangalore

Planning to visit Bangalore to meet some freinds. Will spend a day or two at their place. Since I am going all the way there, was wondering if me & the wife couldn't spend a few more days visiting some touristy places with around Bangalore within a few hours. Any suggestions?
Planning this only after a month or two.

Also still not decided whether to fly from Pune/Bbay to Bangalore or
to drive. How long is the drive - how are the roads etc?

The trip is around 900 from Pune. Should take you around 12-13hrs. 700 kms of that stretch is beautiful. The roads between Haveri-Chitradurga are not in such great shape.

Once you are here, try Nandi Hills & Mysore.

Bangalore BHPians, Help please :)

Hey guys!

I'll be visiting Bangalore tomorrow with two of my friends for a project. We'll be staying at a place near Malleshwaram Circle (6th Cross), near City Union Bank. Any idea on where the place is? I did check out Google Maps, and it is apparently near Mantri Square. How is the bus connectivity there? The office is some 8kms away from our place of residence, (Peenya Industrial Area).

This is my first independent visit to Bengaluru, so your inputs on commuting, etc, will help.

@fanatic:
Malleswaram is a good place to stay. Lots of BMTC buses ply to Peenya.
Prefarably, please take monthly pass if you are staying more than a month. It helps.

More info below:

BMTC:
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC)

There are lot of Volvo buses and quite decent as well.

If you are coming by bus (KSRTC) or train, get down at KBS(Majestic)/Bangalore city station (last stop) and Malleswaram is near by.

Man! mantri square is a bigger landmark than malleswaram circle? :( They are ruining malleswaram.

You can take 252/258 AFAIR buses to go to peenya, good frequency.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'll be leaving in another one hour or so. @Hooligan - Yeah, Bus no 252 was mentioned by the person who is in charge of arranging our accommodation. I hope the auto drivers there speak Tamil/Hindi.

Welcome to Bangalore

Malleshwaram Mantri square is a prime locality in Bangalore.

5 kms away from Majestic, and the approx auto fares would be Rs 15 - 20.

Dont behave like you are a tourist, many in Bangalore speak only tamil or hindi, its OK.

Bangalore guys know almost all languages.

Have a happy journey and a safe stay here.
