Sawyer,

Interesting.... Can you quote a few instances of where it would have helped?

He He that was funny. But these topics keep us 'bonded' somehow, which is what I heard, and deserves one more roll.

I think the answer to all these staff problems in IT companies is because we do not have any labour laws regarding lay offs etc. for white collar sector. That is primarily because we never had a sizeable white collar sector whose interests needed to be safeguarded.

Do note all major countries have such regulations like 2 months notice or pay.

If any political party/union identifies such a votebank and forces through a legislation (and there will be major hue and cry by the corporates against this), then we have made a start.

I work in the same building. I worked from home today though and did not have a clue about it. Sad state of affairs. Reason?

Heard he was a fresher and had joined 4 months back. Not a confirmed detail, however overheard people saying so. Heard he jumped off from the terrace, which usually remains locked and access to it remains restricted. I do not know the reason, I work from Innovator building.

I fail to understand is it frustration, is it disappointment, financial crunch, Loans what is it?? I feel pity on these fellows who even think of such act. No one is born free from all tensions, its part of Life.

I just fail to understand the state his parents would be in :( God give them strength to overcome this.

Sad to know that people are jumping off buildings at even younger ages. What could have prompted a fresh off college guy to jump off and kill himself?

misplaced priorities. too much of focus on achievements.

"No sports, no relationships, no movies/music, no outings, no entertainment in life. Just focus on your studies and get a job."

That's how I was brought up too.

And when the only dream of your life is snatched away, this is what happens.

Oh dear. That is so bad.
Hope his soul rests in peace. Misplaced priorities. Thats all.

Maybe time for all of us to see/read "Tuesdays with Morrie" again.

I work in Navigator. I saw a huge crowd in the center of ITPL when I was driving out. I was wondering what it is and now that I hear it, feel so sad about it. RIP!

Taking ones life for any reason is just not justified-you pass on but before committing keep a thought for the trauma, blame and sadness one leaves behind. Talk to someone if in a suicidal mood, you will find an outlet for pent up options. May his soul rest in peace and my condolences with his parents.

Re: Another techie commits suicide jumping from office Building - This time from TCS

bumping up an old thread.
1. Is NSR Registration Manatory?
2. If it is not, and your company tries to make you, what recourse does one have?

NSR is a NASSCOM body, not a government one, so it is not "mandatory" in a legal sense. However, if your company mandates it, there isn't much that you can do, except quit.

My previous company mandated joining NSR at some point when I had already worked there for 4-5 years. I decided to stonewall and I ignored all mails from HR asking me to register. This went on for a year or so, and finally they lost their enthusiasm for the whole thing and stopped asking me. A few years later, I quit that company for another career move.

Generally, product companies won't care for NSR. Services companies may.
