How to gift Home appliances to a person in a different city?

One of my friend recently got married and he has moved to New Delhi. We, the so-called friends, have not even given him a gift for his marriage. So, a couple of us thought that since he is moving to a new house, it would be better to get him something for his new house (which would also count for his house warming gift)

The problem we are facing here is that he has already left for Delhi and we still have to send him the gift. We have decided to give him a Microwave oven.

Now, that was the preface to my query.

Since I stay in Bangalore, I want suggestions from you guys on how I can do so? Buying and sending it through a courier/transporter is not preferable since no one will be accountable for damages & also it might turn out to be expensive.
Is there a possibility of any of these big stores (E Zone, Croma etc) can facilitate payment here and deliver in Delhi (from their Delhi store)

Please suggest any other way in which I can do it

Thanks,
Aditya

Buy online and give the delivery address of your friend.

You can use eBay India - Online Shopping Mall: Free Auctions, Shop/Buy/Sell Mobiles, Cameras, Apparel, Computers, Bollywood Clothes & Indian Products to buy and send the oven online. It's the easiest and safest way IMO. Plus some may offer free shipping too.

Second that. Have used both ebay and indiaplaza.in on multiple occasions and no complaints yet. I've used ebay for the exact same purpose; to gift to a newly wed friend. If you are using ebay, make sure to check the seller's feedback score.

You can check with Big Bazzar (or any other chain of stores viz. ITC etc) whether they give some gift vouchers

you can buy the gift voucher in bangalore and send it via registered post/courier to your friend. He and His wife can visit Big Bazaar and buy the needed appliances.

this avoids you sending some appliance/stuff which they already have.
