:-(

Damn...Bandwidth prices are still unrealistically high in India. It is comparitively slow as well...

I'm in Germany currently and get a peak download speed from good servers like Akamai at around 3 MegaBytes (not Bits) per second.

Torrents with good number of seeds give roughly 500-600 kilobytes per second speeds.

I live in an apartment where the only Internet expense is a one time payment of 20 euros (~1000Rs INR). No monthly rentals, no extra download charges... nothing...

The only problem is I have a download limit of 5 GB/day. Upload cap is a funny 512 MB/Day. After that limit, the download is capped at 60KiloBytes/Sec till midnight.

I'm moving back to India in 2-3 months time so i better grab all my TopGear torrents before that...

So you dropped the plan to get another service provider?
For your TG episodes etc., it will be good to get a 384kbps plan with night free. So daytime normal surfing and night unlimited peer to peer!

Is there any way of finding that out, online? Don't wanna end up with a similar or higher bill. I'll be dead if that happens.

Shan2nu,

You can check your DSL usage @ http://south.touchtelindia.net/
Use your DSL username and password. I have been using this for quite some time.

Well, I am not trying to get a solution for this nightmare..

I already have a BSNL Corporate connection ... for surfing - 2 mbps (3 GB@ Rs. 700 per month)
Am now getting a BSNL Home Unlimited Connection .... for downloads - 256 kbps (Unlimited @ Rs. 500 per month)

All tensions solved @ Rs. 1200 per month...

and no... Airtel does not give connections in my area!
