Sad indeed! RIP Tarun. May god give strength to his near and dear ones. I hope his friend is recovering. May the car be found and the driver tried with the maximum penalty possible!

Sorry for not being clear in my first post. But as many have asked, both Tarun & his friend are no more.

As for wearing a helmet, the rider was wearing a helmet. When I found him, only the bottom ring portion of the helmet was around his head with the neck strap intact. The rest of the helmet had shattered into pieces. I was surprised to see this & am not able to conclude whether it was the force of the impact or the quality of the helmet that is in question.

Tarun always wore & insisted others on wearing a helmet. That fateful night, he accompanied his friend as a pillon for what was going to be just a half km ride, without a helmet. But as plans changed, they went to Palm Beach for a ride. Tarun's sense of road discipline would piss even me off when he would not move, even for a honking BEST bus, until the timer reached Zero & the lights turned Green. All this when other motorists have started moving when the timer reaches 8.

Very sad. May the family find the strength to cope with such a loss. Since you mentioned that many parts from the car were at the site check if any of the parts show the year of manufacture? Perhaps you could narrow down to the batch of white cars manufactured in that period and trace through the dealers. If you have a date the police can requisition this information from the manufacturer and trace down to the owner

Usually the glass marking has the date
