Agree completely Suren. TG is in a class of his own. His picture and Guyonblackybx's 3rd picture are the best in this thread till now, IMO

Excellent Deky, processed pics obviously welcome.

What we really need here is composed pics and not mere snap shots. The theme being rain, we need pics that show the rain or clean effect of rain, and not just water. One should not be left wondering or have to search for the sign of rain. Technical aspects are important too, for example the first pic (#13) by unni.ak would have been wonderful if only the web was in focus.

Let's see some effort at composition guys, it is still raining in many places.

What beautiful pictures, guys. I suck at photography, so will never have anything to contribute to these sort of threads.

Is it okay to save some of the pictures to my hard drive? I'm not going to use them for anything commercial, ever. Just additions to my slideshow screensaver. Preferably the ones with cars in them

Exactly. I have also commented only on these two pictures. The best ones in this thread so far.

A view of the monsoon through my window-sill taken two years ago by my niece. I really like this photograph even though it is not of a very high resolution.

Good thread. Apart from Car, quite surprised to see so many photo enthusiasts.

Can we also have the setting being used for the rain shots. it would provide good learning for all.

Hi!!
Samurai has given a few pointers as to how to shoot in the rain in one of the earlier posts. Besides that he has also mentioned that settings for shooting in rain vary considerably in different situations. Go through that post its quite informative.

Good luck, now if its raining in Chennai, lets see some photos from your side too.

To be honest, I don't think there should be any specific pointers as to which settings you should use when shooting in rain. This vastly varies depending on what you want to compose, the light conditions, source of light, etc, just like shooting anything at anytime. Only thing you should take care is that your gear must be protected from getting wet when shooting in rain. Rest is left to your knowledge of using the equipment, and your compositional skills. There are rain covers available in the market for camera and lenses if you are a pro and shoot in the rain / wet conditions often.

Not sure if this is OT but i think this is worth sharing

I hope people from Kerala will remember Manorama photographer Victor George. He was their Chief Photographer and during his time we used to see wonderful photos by him in the daily. Victor was killed in a landslide while he was trying to take its photo.

This is a link to one of his Book (dont know what you call it. a photo book may be) titled 'Its raining'
________ Victor's - ' its raining ' ________

More on him here - Victor George - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
