Yeah... all three structures have lighting from behind. They have very little detail on the front, and are distinguished from the sky background only by the backlight. How come you didn't have this doubt with the pic just before that?

Since in your picture, the structure is abundantly lit and quite visible from front also.

@Samurai
Yes, it is back lit, but too much of light in front, reflected off the sand might have made him think its not, a mistake that i used to make a lot while understanding the meaning of back light.

It is primarily lit from behind. It is not possible to eliminate all reflections from other sides. TG also made a similar point.

Here is something I posted in non-auto image thread long back. Don't ask which dSLR.

You know, when I think back to film days, it was lot tougher. One never knew how the shot came out until you came back from the trip and get the film developed. These days we have the luxury of shoot/review/reshoot/review until we get it right. When I look back at the old negatives, I see that I shot most shots only once and I mostly got it right. Can't say I have that much accuracy with the dSLR now. Are we getting sloppy or what!

Thank you YC.BALENO.CHD and TSEA. Glad that you guys like the shot .

TG,
Nice one. I remember you had posted a picture of a subway/railway station on the Non-auto image thread. That was a brilliant shot and suits this theme I guess, mind posting that again? Thanks in advance .

EDIT: Adding more shots to this theme.

I remember the first shot of the last post in the non-auto thread. Looks like you have kept the shot without any heavy PP as suggested by some users. Looks nice!
