Thanks Tirtha. Coming weekend, I will be going to Atlanta for Durga Puja. There are a total of 3 Bengali Associations in Atlanta. One of them had DP last weekend, and 2 will have DP on coming weekend. Will post some pics.

In the meantime, enjoying virtual DP from your pics. Thanks for the thread, especially for "underprivileged" guys like us, as Anirban mentions. Guys, please contribute to this thread so that we can continue with our Virtual DP.

What? No new pictures since the last time I checked? Is Colt Magnum available for online purchase?! Anyway,I would probably have to send the bullets that come out of it by Lufthansa and there might not be seats available for those due to the heavy rush. I guess two nights of sleep deprivation is finally taking its toll, as he might be sleeping during action!

This pandal was shaped like a Shivlinga. Pandal situated next to my house near Mallik Bazar / AJC Bose RD crossing. The pandal had the water flowing from the top... et al. however at the time I took the pic, the pump was not on.

Another Bong from "Taxas"

Subho Bijoya to you and your family.

Let me try to do some justice to the caption of the thread.

As I mentioned earlier, I was supposed to go to Atlanta over the weekend for Durga Puja. However, that did not happen. Instead, like most of my trips, I deviced another "Lets go" type trip. On Wednesday, me and Indranil (colleague of mine), planned to go to Houston, Texas instead !! So, here comes a mini travelogue and DP log from another temporary "Bong at Taxas".

So, off we were on Thursday afternoon with me and Indranil's family including his 2yr old son. I attended a few meetings at office in the morning, returned home and left by 2:30pm. We had about 950 miles of drive ahead of us. No staying plans were made. We planned to drive overnight or stay somewhere at night, if we cannot pull through, mostly for the kid.

The journey was more or less uneventful and we did manage to drive overnight, reaching Houston on Friday morning at 6:15am. Me and Indranil took turns at the wheel and all went well.

Currently posting this from Houston and plan to get in touch with @1100D at Dallas. At this moment, enjoying Durga Puja at the Houton Durga Bari Society. Unfortunately, I have left behind the data cable for the camera and unable to download pics now. You wil have to wait for them till I return to Greenville.

We are staying here till Sunday and plan to leave by Sunday night (10pm) after a major feast of "mangsho bhaat" and drive overnight once again. We should be reaching Greenville by 2pm, Monday.

Lets see how things turn out, will keep you posted. Sorry again for not posting any pics now.

Letter from my cousin brother at Kolkata who had made the following idol himself.

"Bondhugon,

Tirtho, you need to translate that pure bong post (your cousin's letter) for the general readability requirements of this board. Please put up an English translation of the same.

P.S. : By the way that black stone look of the protima is just fabulous IMO. Very different indeed.

Durga Puja at Houston, Texas

As I had mentioned earlier, I travelled to Houston over the weekend for Durga Puja. Houston has a pretty happening Bengali community and Durga Puja is held with great enthusiasm. Houston Durga Bari Society (HDBS) has its own temple and the complex also houses a 2000 seat auditorium, a library, a guest house and a school for performing arts. The overall complex is pretty impressive.

Here I have tried to capture the overall puja environment at Houston.

Starting with my ride here, at a pitstop on way to Houston. Drove overnight, sharing the wheel with a friend of mine, who was travelling with me.

The temple from inside with "Dhunuchi nach" in progress. Following fire restrictions, it is performed with incense sticks instead of the usual dhunuchi.

HDBS also organized a musical program, with performances by Raghav Chatterjee, of Tere Naam fame, and Shampa Kundu.

The log from the GPS after our onward journey. I was too tired to take a similar pic of the return journey after reaching home.
