These days though, difficult to disconnect from work. we are all so wired. We have to try hard to stay disconnected. Not easy.

I have to confess : Since the time of my older post (quoted from the other thread), it's no longer a 48 hour work week for me. An easy week is 70 hours now.

I make it a point to sleep more than 8 hours daily, barring a few days I wake up after 7 hours of sleep..

Too less sleep (I have observed the following effects on my body)
Hair Loss
Dark Circles (used to sleep for only 4 hours during my college days, still have those dark circles)
Difficulty driving
Getting Angry
Increased smoking

Funniest thing is even if I get good sleep, I don feel fresh in the morning, thanks to my sinus:)

Correct. I call it switching action. You lay down on bed and you are then fast asleep. You can instantly switch. For me, I have to get tired to get sleep. After that when I sleep, no alarm can wake me, but the switching action is not possible for me. If I had some argument with anybody, I just cant sleep. I need two hours sometimes to get sleep. And then I become tense for the fact that why I am not able to sleep.

You are indeed gifted.

ONE MORE WARNING-NEVER MISS OUT YOUR BREAKFAST.

Life is full of stress and normally I never take breakfast. Its only at around 10 am I need breakfast. I get up at 7, go to sleep at 1-2 am.

I recently met a 60 year old Neurologist who sleeps from 1 am to 4 am everyday.
Just 3 hours! :Shockked:

Think about his patients, they will be always getting prescriptions from a half asleep man!
lol:

Being a neurologist, he must have found some ways to cheat his nervous system when it demands sleep. :D

Having no breakfast in the morning is inviting diseases.

I believe that, the older you get, the less you sleep. Dad cannot sleep for more than 5 hours at night (he is a senior citizen).

Indira Ghandhi used to sleep 4 hours. Mahatma Gandhi didn't sleep much, so did Morarzi Desai and many great people.

IMO the real factors for heart diseases are Family history, Smoking, High cholestrol low fiber diet, Alcohol consumption etc.
