Oops, I meant it's not available. Not deducing any theory behind it. The link I gave has the same explanation that you gave.

All those who recently bought cars thinking of resale value as a criterion - take that!

Jokes apart - If something of that sort does happen - I'll miss my family and friends, and ya- I wish I had done that Leh trip earlier!

Nah don't worry, there is a saying called "PAPI CHIRAYU", which means sinners live forever.
So with the world filled with so many sinners, how can the world come to an end.

There is a general tip given to bike riders- focus on where you want your tire to go, not where you don't want to go. Whether dooms day is tomorrow or later, one should focus on survival and treat every day as a chance to turn a new leaf rather worrying about when the life stops. Who knows, one may not live to see a dooms day, live in today and thank for every new morning.

Re: 21/12/2012 Doomsday (End Of World)

You guys seriously have some time in hand! By the way, if you have not already seen this there wasa huge article in TOI some months back that the Mayans (their descendants) are pretty miffed off with this kind of publicity. They denied that their calendar ever said anything of the sort that the world makes out of it. They further blamed their governments which in order to milk the extremely lucrative tourist industry (apparently 100s of 1000s pour in every year) never deny this and only add fuel to the fire.

Its all bunkum guys.

I think man should not worry about any specific date, he is investing quiet aggressively and continuously towards destruction...

So worrying about the "dooms" day wont make sense at all, its going to come someday but gradually i suppose, we are already witnessing the climatic changes etc

Enjoy the ride till it lasts

Re: 21/12/2012 Doomsday (End Of World)

hume kya pata?

there is so much unknown about the world. anything can happen. We can't even predict earthquakes/tsunami's in reasonable certainty. The world banking system would collapse if a big storm stormed through New York. Science and all is fine, but leave some space for the great unknowns of science also.

Have you guys seen Talash

That did happen last month. There was 10ft water on wall street, and they lost power in the financial district for 3 days. Didn't affect the world banking system one bit thanks to cloud computing.

I thought about before writing the post, and concluded that it was not a big enough storm - like say the super cyclone in orissa, with tsunami waves.

cloud computing cannot replace the exchanges/which if not functional for a week, can lead to major commodities problems in the world.

If this regular phenomenon happens little stronger on 21-Dec, then, we can conclude Mayans were genius than Einstein...

Tweets from Neil deGrasse Tyson:

Hard to take seriously predictions about the end of the world from the Maya, a culture that could not predict its own demise

Hard to take science cues from the Maya, who never discovered the wheel, and who sacrificed animals to satisfy gods.
