i use rediffmail because of the connectivity speed-it is very fast.and gmail beause of its huge free storage space.though i have experienced few problems with gmail of late.
hotmail was my first e-mail id so i still keep it just in case some of my old friends want to mail me!!

GMail Tip

It was frustrating to find all the unread mails in gmail till I found this short cut. Search for is:unread in the search window! Someone also mentioned that you could create a filter with this criteria. In theory once you create the filter you can do many actions for all the mails selected through the filter viz., delete, mark as read etc. Have not tried out this filter though.

Re: Which email provider(s) do you use and why ?

I use gmail cos I use android phone which requires a gmail account. Further I use mail.com as I got a very simple user name with my profession i.e., lawyer.com.

Re: Which email provider(s) do you use and why ?

I was using Hotmail till around 2-3 months back. Then a friend asked me "who uses Hotmail these days?". I was zipped. Anyways, I was irritated because of the countless spam messages I used to receive.

I switched to Gmail and am very happy. I use my Hotmail ID as my 'garbage' ID and my Gmail ID is my primary ID which is linked to my Android phone.

Re: Which email provider(s) do you use and why ?

I use my official e-mail provider. iitk.ac.in has a very good firewall and takes care of most other issues. Also, post returement you can retain the account for life. I also have gmail and yahoo accounts. I have not used the latter for ages since if your yahoo account gets hacked then there is very little you can do to get it back. I use gmail also esp. since some vendors are unhappy with two letter ids, as is mine.

Sify mail closure

The Indian Website Sify.com's e-mail service will be closed on 1st July 2014. This thread can help people with e-mail id on sify.com to transfer their contents as well as contacts to a new mail id.
At least I for one am having difficulty in doing so.

Here are some links
Sify HelpHELP

Transferring Sify mail to Gmail accountHELP

And now back to my question:
What will happen to the mails which people send me on sify mail? Is there any way I can receive them on the new e-mail address. Something like re-directing the mails.
Help will be appreciated.
Thanks
P.S. Mods could'nt find any related topics hence made a new thread.

Re: Sify mail closure

Since they are closing the service, I dont think the forward facility would be available. Normally this is a service extended by the mail service. Though tedious task, its advisable to replace your latest id instead of sify mail id on all sites/contacts.

I'll wait to hear from the experts as well..

Re: Sify mail closure

Slightly OT:

Proactively, does anybody know the state of rediffmail? All my bank, demat accounts and what not are linked to rediffmail. I'm following this thread.
