re: ALERT! Car stolen - Silver Indica Vista : MH 01 AX 5471 : Matunga, Mumbai

How old is the car? I am sure by now the number plates would have been changed, are there any visual differentiators for the car? Some special stickers, or dents or paintings that can help in identifying the car.

Thanks everyone for the prompt response. Filed the police complaint at 3:30 am itself. The police issued an advisory through the wireless system. Haven't made any breakthrough as yet. The car was locked and secured properly as is the daily routine. Its been parked outside the building for years now.

Will intimate the insurance folks as well. Hoping to receive some positive news soon!

Pls ensure that you get a Non Traceable certificate from the cops, this will be needed to be sumitted to the Insurance co too. At the same time, inform the RTO authorities too of the stolen vehicle with complete details. If the car is financied, then intimation to the financier is also a must. The Insurance co will coordinate with the financier to pay off the balance loan, get a copy of the payment settlement if thats the case.

Re: The "Car / Bike got stolen" Thread

Please help! My matte grey Dio scooter got stolen in shantinagar in front of foodies hotel. I had parked it for a short while and when I came back, it was no where to be found! I'm really tensed. I lodged a formal complaint at the Wilson garden police station and even they cannot give me assurance. My insurance expired yesterday and it's absolutely useless now. The registration number of my scooter is Ka 03 HP 8627. I checked all local police stations for signs of towing but to no avail. I have a few important documents in the scooter. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out. Please keep a look out for a matte grey Dio with the registration provided. Any further suggestions will be gladly accepted.

White Swift Ldi (2010) Stolen

Hi all,

My white Swift Ldi (2010) got stolen. I had parked it on 2nd July on the road which is about 100 meters from my house. Didn't take it out yesterday and only realized today morning that its gone.

Locality is Shahpur Jat, South Delhi.

Car Regn No. - HR 26 BC 5514

It had a 'Live to Drive' sticker on the rear windshield and 5 brand new Michelin 185 XM2 tyres (less than a week old).

I really doubt if such a common car would be found but still posting it just in case there's an iota of chance of somehow recovering it.

Thanks
Vikram

Sorry to hear about your loss! I hope you have lodged a complaint with the cops and also informed the insurance company.

You could also mention the registration number here on the forum.

Mentioned the registration number in the original post.

Informed both Insurance company and cops. eFIR was suggested by the police station and I filled it. What a start to the week!

206000 is the IDV, it would've sold upwards of 350000 anyday.

It has an ICE setup costing ~45k and other stuff costing another 4-5k. I really doubt whether it'd be recovered, probably dismantled by now because a 2010 car might not be used, old cars usually are sold as parts.

EDIT: My car cleaner just confirmed that the car was very much there till yesterday morning so it means it all happened yesterday. It was raining heavily all night so perfect time for them to jack it as there wouldn't have been anybody outside.

Re: White Swift Ldi (2010) Stolen

Doesn't your swift have engine immobilizer? I never went for any gear lock etc assuming these work in swift. Did you loose a key? Or is it that easy to bypass/Copy?

The usual central locking. Now if you ask me I would've spent another 20k in the GPS based system but it doesn't matter now.

Honestly, I moved to this locality about an year back and it never occurred to me that such a well lit area which was also a primary road between two residential colonies could be prone to car jacking. It just didn't occur to me to invest in any further security.

By the way, is it ok to file an eFIR and sit back or does going to the police station in person make a difference?

Please check with the insurance. At the end if the car is not recovered the insurance will require documents as per their needs and its better to get things clarified with the insurance agents.

Sorry to hear this. Also check if this was towed after complaint from local neighbors by mistake and is probably sitting in some impound yard.
