nah...

The highest bid was for KL-01 AK-1, which was sold to Balagopal for Rs.3.05 lakhs. The bidder was a distributor of pharmaceutical products in the city, who recently purchased a new Mercedes Benz.

The number KL-01 AK-47 was bought for Rs. 2.9 lakhs by Alex Thomas, a builder in the city. The number is for his new Toyoto Camry.

You sure about it? There was so much fuss about the allocation of that number to someone else that it was all over the papers.

Perhaps the Ikon owner got the auto driver to register the car in his name and then transfer it? Who does it belong to? Jeez man I was after that number too - I didnt think it would be such a big fuss, and the max I planned to pay then was 10k, and that ONLY because it was for the RD.

Re: AK-47 fetches 2.97 lakhs in Trivandrum

Spotted a KL-registered black MB G-class with the AK-47 number at Panampilly Nagar (Cochin, KL).

A search brought up this old thread.

If you don't ask me how I know, KL7 AK47 was bought with 47 Lakhs then

It had a tough competition with another Car, not sure if it was Beemer or a two-wheeler; yes a two-wheeler

KL7-AK47 seems to be registered to a 2002 Ford Ikon. Are you sure 47L would have been paid for this Ikon ?

Regarding the G-Class I spotted, I missed noting the other characters of the registration number, other than that it was a KL.

I was told it's MB, certainly not Ford. The other one I'm not sure if it's BMW or two-wheeler.

Call it coincidence or whatever, while riding back to Cochin today, I spot a white Range Rover at Alappuzha with the number KL-4 AK-47.

Here's a pic of the same. No issues with revealing the license plate. The car was in the news when the owner got the fancy number for 3.25L.

KL07AK47 belongs to a Kinetic Honda owned by an RTO Agent. A comparable figure was paid back then - 15 years or more back. Thiruvananthapuram is very slow to catch on.

And regarding AK 56s, nobody outside of firearms business recognises them. Peaceful Kerala knows only of AK47.
With current regulations, it should be KL01AK0047, which takes away the charm a bit.

Edit. I stand by what I said. Saw the post about the Ford Ikon only now. I have seen the Kinetic Honda in question. Of course, maybe, just maybe, because the owner was a RTO agent, the number "moved" to an Ikon??
