Wow man. Thats great sum for a hike...

I am still waiting for my hike letter anyway the guess is would be around 8% to max, the fact that the inflation in India is around 12%.

That would mean real value quoteint of my salary is -4% . My company is good but Chidambaram screwed up things..

Just got a hike a couple of weeks. In my last year's review was promised a hike of 75% for this year but got 40% .....lack of projects being the reason.

Best way to get any meaningful hike is to "jump".

Lots of JUMPS are expected now, people who move usually are getting now 25% and above so its sure to happen. Strange that companies are willing to let people IN at 25% more than what they pay the guy who is leaving!!! Why not pay the guy even 15% more and retain him? i think its a calculated risk, lets see if the guy really moves or not, if not we got away with low expense, if yes, well maybe a risk worth it!!

While what you are saying is absolutely logical, there are several reasons behind it. I am just quoting a couple of them.
  1. Salary hikes are driven by % budgets, which make such corrections difficult.
  2. Organizations know that there will be attrition anyway. So, for 25% people who leave they don't need to give hike to 100%.

I really need to get a reality check!!!!

My review is just around the corner. Keeping my fingers crossed. Was given 12% hike + quarterly bonus during the downturn ( no salary cut in our company last time), so hoping for the best now.

My previous company did a 5% cut from april-2009 salary and no hikes since 2008, good part they gave it back 5% cut in Jan-2010 and no hikes again this year.
I moved to a different company to gain a 49% hike in my new salary ..

I am yet to get the hike, but my company feels i am overpaid

For people who are new (or) just started working, for the initial two year one would see double digit hike but as you grow and cross the 1 million mark per annum, it would be in the range of 5-15%..

Mannn, some guys have all the luck. As for me I'm getting only 9-10kmpl from my car and still don't know about the hike. But it's really good see this kind of hikes. Ours not announced yet but seeing this kind of trend is kind of comforting.
