MAYAPURI Jeeps - Radiation leak in army disposal market

Dear Jeepers,
Keep away for the time being from Mayapuri market, as reported in the news a while ago there has been a radiation leak, cause not known.
Could be from some military weapon accidentally left in auctioned jeeps.
Regards,

Sdp,
The type of radiation is not known from the vague news, surely not nuclear as it is an expensive affair (logic) there seems to be some kind of reaction on guys there. Check out the news.
It was on INDIA TV (Hindi).

Looks like they were unloading scrap and people got burned, doesn't seem to be a serious case as of now.

Hope not, radiations effects even the unborn and future generations, like Chernobyl.

India TV? LOL. In that case I am sure its not radiation. Patal lok is invading, and the minions of the devil have chosen the Mayapuri as the place where they will sound the horns for the first battle.

On a serious note, Hindustan times is also reporting the same

From HT news :

Quote:
Deepak Jain, the dealer, had found the "bright, shining object" among some medical waste he bought today.
That seems credible. Nuclear medicine does use active elements.

Guys
I just spoke to someone in Mayapuri its not as big or dangerous as some of the TV channels have portrayed it to be.
The guys said that some radioactive substance arrived in some medical equipment from some hospital in Faridabad. My best guess is that it must be Cobalt (I hope I have the name of the element correct) that a friend was telling me is used in Cancer radiation and is very radioactive.
The damage has been contained in one particular lane which is referred in Mayapuri as "masjid wali gali"

So not to worry, &
on a lighter note anyone game to go to Mayapuri tomorrow, might be we could go to this gali and get some good discounts, but remember to bring your radiation suits

Cobalt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From the description of the victims, they had extremely high dosage of radiation -- of course, to be expected, with them sleeping in the same room. I think authorities would definitely downplay the severity of this matter. In fact, with India's move to get Civil Nuclear cooperation going with US, authorities would do everything to underplay this, as this shows the fact that we do not know how lethal radioactive material can be, and how to handle it.
Cobalt-60 has a half-life of around 5.25years. So, it completely depends on how the radiation and radio-active material have been contained.

Its actually Cobalt 60, which is a radioactive isotope of cobalt, used in cancer treatment.
A case has been registered, and hopefully the hospital which disposed of radioactive waste like this needs to be brought to task
