MAGIC #1

An Indian found that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the Computer

which can be named as "CON". This is something funny and inexplicable. At

Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened!

TRY IT NOW, IT WILL NOT CREATE A "CON" FOLDER

MAGIC #2

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1...) Open an empty notepad file

2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)

3.) Save it as whatever you want.

4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Noticed the weird bug? No one can explain!


MAGIC #3

Again this is something funny and can't be explained. At Microsoft the

whole Team, including Bill Gates, couldn't answer why this happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself.

Open Microsoft Word and type

=rand (200, 99)

And then press ENTER

And see the magic.

After saving the file, instead of double clicking, follow these steps:
1. Open notepad by typing 'Notepad' in Run(Not by double clicking any notepad file)
2. Go to file --> Open --> and select the file that you have saved before
3. Change the encoding to UTF-8 or ANSI
4. and Press 'Open' button
and you get the file in with the correct text.....

Pre Windows GUI days the monitor & printer were treated as an output devices & were assigned a nick name such as CON for monitor & PRN for printer. So when you'd to output a file to printer you say "type filename > prn" and when you wanted the same on screen you could say type filename OR type filename > con. So CON becomes a reserved word in DOS & thus the legend continues. Apart from CON, you can try creating a directory called PRN which I'm sure you'll not be able to create too.

All these are quirks going back decades, all have proper explanations if one searches.
