not sure if many have been following it. But this offshore location is spilling 5000 barrels everyday into gulf of mexico. The sea food industry (and tourism) may be dead for a few years if it spreads to the whole gulf, which is not unlikely.

personally, my vacation plan may be spoiled completely :Frustrati.

This is an issue which we have been speaking about in our course.

BP has been trying to improve their brand image and also trying to be more GREEN in their ventures but accidents or incidents like this has reduced their brand image a lot!

The shrimp industry in this coast is alone worth more than $2 billion so BP has a lot of lawsuits coming its way.

This video will explain whats being done or planned to be done.

YouTube - US oil spill explained

More than anything, the ecosystem's going to be totally messed up for years to come. I do hope things get under control and apart from saving the fuel, innocent lives be saved and further damage be stopped.
There's speculation that in a while, Galveston (~40miles south of Houston) should be seeing a lot of the oil washing ashore.Thats how widespread the leak is.

Good Day Everybody ,

My initial input regarding the Gulf of Mexico oil spill :

BP suffers from their own image , can BP survive on on the Health , Safety . Environment , Quality & Operational requirements they impose on the subcontractors who work for them.

I WILL BE POSITIVE WITH THE REPLY :

THEY DO NOT !!!!!

Wish they were more practical with their (BP) operations - they would have more experienced and better operational persons and that is what can prevent such incidents .

If a survey was conducted in the offshore / shipping industry - the vote for BP would be JUST REWARDS - with all sympathy for the Lousiana costal population which has to bear the brunt of the slick.

Regards
Chauhan
