Chandigarh adjudged the cleanest city in India, Mysore gets the second rank

According to a study conducted by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, Chandigarh has been adjudged the cleanest city in India and Mysore gets the second rank. Mangalore and Bangalore get 8th and 12th place respectively, as reported in today's Decccan Herald.

Chandigarh is rightly adjudged as the most clean city in the country. Having spent a major part of my childhood in Chandigarh/Panchkula, its a great feeling to learn that Chandigarh is India's cleanest city.

2. Mysore
3. Surat

I watched the last night 9 pm news in NDTV, which reported that Chennai gets 13th rank and Mumbai, 40th rank.

I love Mysore. Reminds me of Ye Olde Bangalore. Chamundi hills, the spacious roads, proximity to superb places.
Bangalore being 12th is the surprise here.

Go Mysore. Mangalore would have come higher if not for the port and mine lorries spoiling the port area. Check wikimapia image of mangalore port. Its brown!

That is a bit weird. Unless they only considered Fort area!

Mysore, which missed the first rank by just 3 points, and Mangalore aim to do even better, as per this report in today's The Times of India:
