Hi.
Yes I remember the song from my school days. Also remember the scene immediately after the song. It starts raining and David regrets having sung that song resulting in heavy rain. His regret was about the problems faced by homeless people due to rain.
For today the combination of Lata, Naushad and Shakeel.
Enjoy. Regards

Re: 1950's, 60's and 70's Hindi songs?

Added two gems to my collection from 1960s movie Kaajal ... these days both are on repeat mode on ICE of my XUV.

Both by Mohd. Rafi and if am not wrong, picturized on Raj Kumar.
  • Choolene do nazuk hoton ko.... kuch aur nahi jam hai ye...
  • Yeh zulf agar khulke bikhar jaaye.... to achha hai......

One of the RD classics which almost sound like SD! In fact for a long time I always thought this was an SD composition. The other RD composition in the same tone that I love is the Kishore solo from Satte pe Satta. (Dilbar Mere..) Amazing tone there.

Both the songs are beautiful.

One for today. Mukesh from the movie Saaranga. The music was composed by Anu Malik's father. Sardar Malik.

Re: 1950's, 60's and 70's Hindi songs?

This is one of my all time favourite songs and is from the movie Chhaya.

Though the duet was by Talat Mahmood and Lata Mangeshkar, the HMV dual cassette set my father brought sometime in late 1980s had this song as part of ‘Talat Mahmood collection’. I still remember the cassette covers were red in colour.

Re: 1950's, 60's and 70's Hindi songs?

One of those days when you sleep at 2.30 am, wake up at 5.30 am, go to work and everywhere else where it is required to be, come back home post midnight and then you remember you have wake up again at 4.15 am because you have a flight to catch. Life is not fair.

At this hour when the body refuses to sleep because it is too tired and the brain says please sleep because you have to wake up at 4.15 am, only solace is this song by Kishore Kumar - Kiska Rasta Dekhe Ae Dil - Joshila, 1973.

Re: 1950's, 60's and 70's Hindi songs?

Hi everybody.
A gem by Mukesh. As the movie Dharam Karam did not do so well this did not become very popular.

Another one by Suraiya from the movie Rustum Sohrab

Enjoy

A classic for today.

Talat in Daag. Every one knows about Ae Mere Dil Kahin. This is a different one; on the lines of "Hai Sabse Madhur Wo geet"

PS: Ampere hi. Around 25 years back Lata in a tribute to Kishore, Rafi, Talat, Hemant cut an album in 2 volumes titled Shradhanjali. She was the vocalist for some evergreen songs by other male artists. Have you heard it? Rgds

There is yet another beautiful song from Shabaab, a lullaby sung by Hemant and Lata, "Chandan ka palna".
Very rare that Hemant has sung for Naushad.
