Driver salaries / pay

Team

Just wanted to know if you employ a driver ( generate employment/distribute wealth might be a politically correct term ).

How much do you pay?

In Bangalore, I have a regular driver. Pay 4.0K.

Wanted to know the industry standards!!!

Ok this is one interesting topic... i say this because i was just reading HT a few days back about the salaries of Employees of NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation).. it turns out that Drivers there earn more than even Managers!!.. the salaries of Drivers are around 7.5 Lacs per annum compared to a manager's 6 Lacs per annum... believe me guys it is TRUE!!!

The Car is Baleno Lxi. Audio setup yet to be commissioned. I am musically challenged. So yet to identify a good setup, primarily for FM radio, sometimes hindi melodies, when parents are in the backseat it would be playing religious discourses/documentaries... Am thinking of having VCD player with rear screens like the Indigo LX for the rear seat..just a thought tht occured now.

Yeah its a 15days old car. Nope, I dont travel interstate. Just within Bangalore. Driver Duties include guarding the car and house when at home, of course during the day. Running odd jobs and tending to the garden.

Since I am the only one who drives in my house, we have two drivers to transport the rest of the family around.

6.5 K plus overtime.

i know some families paying their driver upto Rs. 8k/ month - for a 12 hr duty and on the other hand, our neighbour pays a mere sum of 2.5k to his driver for a 6 hr duty

our driver is paid 4.5k + overtime@ 10Rs. per Hr - i guess its good enough

might be off topic, but i see a whole lot of people being driven to my office. The drivers have a seperate room where they watch TV and play cards i suppose.

Keeping in mind the City traffic it indeed helps to have a driver, but i feel bad for all the time wasted in the drivers lounge.... I somehow feel they could to something more lucrative for themselves instead of idling...They could learn a whole lot of stuff or simply do small errands for people in office and make a buck or two...

I just dont understand how a guy can sleep for a whole day in the drivers seat!!

i drive everyone in my family around and dont get paid anything

on a more serious note, the company i work for has around 100 drivers and speaking to some of them, the average here seems to be around 3000 - 3500.

We think alike. I hate idle time. In my life or the people who work for me.
