Only if you have a 4 wheel steering along. But I guess same can be the case for a 4x2 vehicle?

@lordofgondor

no. skoda doesn't provide 3 year thingy like the chevy. though they are providing extended warranty.

what hurts most in skoda is the cost of spares if you end up nudging someone.

Yes, the current F01 7 series comes with the Integral Active Steering. But in a very interesting way.

Under 35-40 kmph and at parking speeds the rear wheel will turn in the opposite direction of the front wheel enabling a easier maneuvering and thereby lessening the turning radius.

Over a certain speed, say 60 kmph, the rear wheel turns in the same direction of the front wheel enabling fast maneuvering in lane changes etc.

The rear wheel turn is restricted only to a very few degrees though. Does the job well.

I said ' Auntie, you have to live with it' and explained why the engine and transmission needs to be disengaged..blah blah blah. She replied that one day they will develop a car without a clutch. I was adamant that it will not be so, there has to be a clutch and she better get used to it. We had a bet then. The Auntie has forgotten about the bet and am yet to swallow my pride and tell her that she was right!!

You still are right mate, as long as there are different gears in an autmobile we need clutches. Automatics just do the clutch engagement and disengagement by themselves and do not need manual intervention.

Re: Quirky logic and funny comments from non-petrol head friends

When I bought a pre-owned BALENO, one of my friends told BALENO is only racing and I could have bought a brand new Alto for that price. Many think of practical work horses and rest seek pleasure and pride on their rides.

Re: Quirky logic and funny comments from non-petrol head friends

When n when I discussed about FIAT cars with my collegues and friends, 60% of them even know the correct names/ pronouncation of latest FIAT cars,
e.g. Punto = Pinto, Pontu, Penta, Putno etc.
Linea = Liena, Lenia, Lena etc.
To whom I should blame? Poor knowledge of my friends or lull n dull marketing/advertizing of "One of the best wordclass brands" in India.

^^

Sad but true.

Personally I've come across several people who doesn't know that cars like Fiat Punto and Fiat Linea exists in India. Thus, when I think on a different note, I'm happy that they atleast have some idea about Fiat cars.

Re: Quirky logic and funny comments from non-petrol head friends

I have a friend from school who knew about the existence of all American brands, such as Chevrolet, Lexus, Acura, Ford, etc. and he claimed himself to be a petrolhead.
His pronunciation was interesting:
Chevrolet - 'Chhe-vorr-lettt
Peugeot - peeyoojiyott
Volkswagen - Wolllksswagon
Suzuki - Suzzkki

Some of his claims:
-Tata Safari has a V8 heart, even buses had only inline-4 engines
-Limos are the fastest cars around, as they are generally used to carry VIPs and it needs to be really fast in order to escape in case of exigencies
-Amby is the safest car available in India because it has an inch thick metal body

Re: Quirky logic and funny comments from non-petrol head friends

Afriend of mine was highly enamoured by the Esteem LX. LX only. When I found him a good used VXi in the market and told him to take a look, he said:

" No Sir, I want only the LX. You see, the LX was a racing Esteem but not the VXi or any other model. That is why all rally cars are Esteem LX".
