Re: The Cricket Thread

I feel someone like myself (who never played with even a leather ball) will score much more if given so many chances and support like Pant is getting. He may be talented, but by giving so much chances to him, what BCCI does is spoiling the career of many talented guys out there.
May be Pant will score a 40-50 today and he will be securing his position in team for another year.

On a lighter note, 'Pant' literally means 'Ball' in Malayalam. So his selection makes sense because it's not possible to play cricket without ball (Pant).

Re: The Cricket Thread

In the last game Hooda should have batted ahead of Hardik! Was an opportunity wasted in such an inconsequential series. Don't know why Bhuvi is playing. Should have been perfect chance to try out Umran Malik.

Hardik Pandya has a stiff neck, thats the reason he's not bowling.

Serves no purpose really. Btw, England have just appointed Luke Wright as a selector, he was playing till recently & has just retired.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Looks like Dinesh Karthik hinted at retirement with his latest post on Instagram. Don’t think we will see him in any more outings for India(IPLs might continue). He had a great flourish at the fag end of his career. So long champ

Link to the Insta reel.

He would definitely be seen in commentary box soon. Am sure he would do a great job there as seen already during England tour IIRC.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The Nidahas trophy final will be a match he and all Indian fans will remember for a lifetime, that is what every cricketer probably dreams of, to win something which is almost considered lost.

So long champ, looking forward to seeing you play for RCB, atleast for one more season if not more.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Pakistan laid a tarmac pitch.

England belted 506/4 in 74 overs @6.74, before light interrupted play in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. There were 4 centurions from Eng.

I don't know if this is Bazball or just a poor pitch or T20's effect on Test cricket.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Watched a bit of the ENG-PAK test match. Pitch was definitely flat but Pakistani bowlers were even flatter. Did not seem enthusiastic at all. Let us see how Pakistan bat on the same pitch. It is not fair to comment unless we see both team bat on the pitch.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Looks like the 952 record is under serious threat. Srilanka took a cool 3 days to get there. England will get there in 2 sessions if they keep wickets in hand

Dinesh was a better batsman than Dhoni, although he made a good start against the Aussies in the home series of 2004, he was never certain of his place in the team. He played well in the 2013 Champions trophy in England but was again left out later only to be recalled as a T20I specialist, now am seeing Sanju Samson going through a similar patch.

Wonder when and if Sanju Samson will get a decent run in the team at least for ODIs/T20s.

In which world?
Doni has a better record in Tests, ODIs, T20s and IPL than Karthik.

And Doni is not just ahead with a whisker but a mile. Doni is an all-time great, a legendary captain and keeper.

Re: The Cricket Thread

So Rishabh Pant ruled out of Bangladesh series and BCCI goes with Rahul as Wicket keeper. No chance for Ishan or Sanju or any young keeper batsmen out there.

This is how selectors are grooming team for world cup? Are they telling, Pant is only wicket keeper for india in upcoming world cup? No one else have so called 'X factor' and are not match winners?
God bless team India. Never seen such stubbornness and arrogance from BCCI & Selectors before.
