The whole idea is to be not predictable and unsettle the bowlers before they find the rhythm, no matter what he does his place is assured till the end of 2023.

India should first try to emulate England Test team's approach in T20s!
KL should definitely be dropped from T20s, he's done ok in ODIs in the middle order & in Tests he's averaging 36 in away conditions which are average numbers considering the talent that he has.

Quote:
India need to get rid of Rohit, KL from any setup and think about next 5 years of captaincy for formats. One is Hardik for T20, ODI, other contender should be Shreyas for ODI/Tests.
Right now only Hardik is assured of T20 captaincy. Shreyas is yet to cement his place in any format though I feel he's quite suited at no.4 in ODIs.

Pant seems to be a good find for test cricket as he finds the format suitable for match winning knocks there and not in T20 or ODI.
Pant has been playing Bazball in Tests for a few years now. I hope selectors keep him away from Captaincy.

The third T20 is today and I’m sure it’ll be a fiercely competitive one.
Ya I have been following it, good quality of cricket, good match going on right now also. What is also heartening to see is the crowd support, it has been a good turnout for all matches.

Arjun Tendulkar scores ton on first class debut, emulates his legendary father Sachin. Like father like son!

Wasn’t he supposed to be a fast bowler? Have always seen clips of him bowling in the nets. When did he switch the red cherry with a willow?

Bowling still is his primary skill. It seems like he has more than decent talent for a lower order batter.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rahul's aggressive test approach is by what standard? Stokes's standard or Rahuls's standard? With ~35 average in 44 tests, KL should be still behind Ash's last 4-5 years batting average. Get rid G/KLass player please.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Ranji Trophy 2022-23

HYD v TN, Elite Group B
TN 108-1 & 510-4 d
HYD 258 & 395
Match drawn

In 4th innings Tamil Nadu bludgeoned 108 runs in just 7 overs before the match ended in an exciting draw. The openers blasted as many as 13 sixes in the short innings! I don't think I have come across a more destructive 4th innings(albeit a short one) than this one in first class cricket.

Re: The Cricket Thread

While in another extreme, Sydney thunders bowled out for 15 runs in 5.5 overs, making it the lowest ever T20 professional score.

15 All out

Re: The Cricket Thread

Now that Rohit Sharma is fit again, he will walk back into the XI.

The most consistent (read consistently bad) batsman will keep his place in the team. The opener who made a hundred will be asked to make place for the returning captain.

No wonder the team is doing badly. Folks like Gill/Ishan Kishan must be wondering how many do they have to score to finally come in the good books of the leadership group. Thankfully Rahane has dropped out of favour so Shreyas Iyer can stay assured.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Bangladesh is cruising at the moment. Will they win this and hand a solid upset to us in Tests as well?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Any thoughts about this post by Sehwag? I think the Gabba pitch should be rated poor for this test match which lasted merely two days.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I actually came to post about the same thing, I agree whole heartedly with Sehwag, the divide is just real.

Not even two days on a green pitch, how is this a balanced pitch by any far sense of imagination. Turning pitches are atleast not dangerous for batsman, this kind of pitch probably can Injure any top order batsman also.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Wow! I was just thinking of how people would have taken a gun at us on a massive turner if a test match was to end inside 2 days in India, but the Gabba will always be treated differently. Came here to write about it and I see this. I love what Sehwag said.

Re: The Cricket Thread

England finish their test outing in Pakistan with a 3-0 whitewash - the first time for Pakistan on home soil. Rehan Ahmed looks promising for England.
