True true. Especially with the ball turning now. DK was saying on commentary that there might be rains around the corner, so that might have played a part in the decision to make the early declaration.

The umpires have stopped play due to bad light as I'm typing this.

Re: The Cricket Thread

When it matters, our batsmen can set the field on fire; and occasionally, perhaps in a jolly good mood, set the field too!

Here's a glimpse of Rishab Pant directing the Bangla skipper to fill in the gaps: surprisingly, the latter seems to adhere to the advice!

Sri Lanka vs New Zealand, 1st Test Match

I was wondering why there wasn't any play today. It reminded me of those instances when a few Test matches lasted six days, including a rest day. However, now I know that in this particular case, it was for a different reason.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Another 5'fer (6) from spinning wizard R. Ashwin, @38 it's quite an achievement, well done "Kutti Stories".

Whatever the Kanpur Test outcome, he's my 'Man of the Series'.

Edit: Welcome back Rishab Pant, what a dream comeback, after nearly 2 years of the car crash. God bless you.

Glad to see Ash made my prediction right. Rightly Player of the match. It was too easy a win in the end. Seems Pakistan win was a fluke for Bangladesh and they are back to their average self. Expecting same thing in 2nd test too.

SL vs NZ test is turning out to be a thriller.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Very happy with the way that Sri Lanka is "softening" the Kiwis before the latter visits India for a series.

All that remains now is for Rohit & Virat to get some runs in the second test. And I hope they rest Bumrah for this one.

Bumrah bowled a mere 21 overs across three days. I don't think he needs any rest. He can be rested for one test during the NZ series or during these senseless T20s against Bangladesh.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Not sure why we are not playing KD Yadav instead of Siraj. He must be released and made to play all domestic matches. KD is potent and provides a unique alternate. He can be attacking and defensive both. Hope atleast in this match, Rohit and Kohli score a century. We need both of them to be in top form for the upcoming stronger opponents.

SL vs NZ 2nd test

Kiwis have been smoked in Galle, by Lankan spinners.

88/8 vs 600+declared.

Very well done

Sri Lanka spinners have been on the rise in there home conditions, they recently made mockery of our full strength team in ODI also.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Mayank Yadav gets call for T-20 series against B’desh. Would be interesting to watch the pace sensation, I hope he doesn’t break down like in IPL and gets to play couple of games. It would be interesting to watch subject to his fragile body keeps up !!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Only one regular opener in the squad. Now most probably Sanju will opens the innings alongside Abhishek. They could have tried Ruturaj given the lack of options.

Looks like test is heading for a draw. Pathetic ground infra. BCCI should take the blame for it and re-imburse ticket money to people.

If there is no more halt, we can push for a win with the last 2 sessions by allowing BAN to bat with some 180-200 runs lead.

India raced to the fastest 50 by a team in test cricket in just 3 overs.

Edit : Now India surpassed their own record of fastest 100 by a team in just 10.1 overs.

Re: The Cricket Thread

That Bangladesh has placed 6 fielders on the boundary line (something that is not done even in ODIs), is a testament to India's fine batting and Bangladesh scared in their boots.
