Not sure how is he hitman in test arena, more like hit-and-run case. He should be the next to be dropped after KL, but being the captain that is not possible.

This is his 6th single digit score in last 8 innings, absolutely pathetic. But his PR team is in full action, and no one is even talking about such a bad performance.

Re: The Cricket Thread

As a cricket fan, I would enjoy the fight, irrespective of the result. All I’m looking forward is a comprehensive fight and not to see the team falling like a pack of cards. On similar lines of 2005 Ashes.

Rohit played a dumb poking shot with a bat almost behind pad, if not an edge he would have been prone to LBW, At lunch Gill & Jaiswal looked neat nimble and decisive with their footwork, but both of them will have to go on and on !! They have to be careful with too much of sweeps and reverse sweeps.

Meanwhile bazball team at 106/9 is on verge to succumb to spin again. I guess now they know the importance of spin

Guess Pak vs Eng would be the first test match where not a single fast bowler is used by a team in both the innings.

Edit - Eng all out at 112, with 36 runs to win for Pakistan ! All 20 wickets taken by spinners. Woah

Re: The Cricket Thread

Hope if another wicket falls, we will play cautiously without getting bogged down. The run rate after being outplayed in 3 previous innings is boggling.

Need big scores by each of the batsmen now.

The mistake our spinners made in the NZ 2nd innings is to to bowl too quick yesterday. That meant the ball did not grip and skidded through, making the sweep an effective shot. Today, I say Jadeja make that adjustment by being slower through the air which got him turn and bounce. Ashwin struggled which he does if the batsmen have a measure of him. He tries too many things and is not able to set the batters up.

Only Jaiswal and Pant have the footwork and the mental toughness to consistently be positive against spinners.

Re: The Cricket Thread

4 down with 229 to win, Kohli and Washington Sundar now at the crease.

If these two don’t stitch a 200 run partnership we can safely assume that this game is gone.

Six down now. What an embarrassment!

Hope we somehow avoid a whitewash.

7 down now.

Question is, will NZ wrap this up before tea or can we somehow manage to bat into the 3rd session of the day?

Re: The Cricket Thread

Is it hubris or incompetence or a combination of both? Whatever it is, if it continues, they are in for a royal spanking in the BGT series if they don't improve pronto.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a turn of events in just a few days! Everyone was mocking Pakistan for their poor home run, but now they are on top of their game. India, on the other hand, went from being dominant at home to performing poorly.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Havent been following cricket for a while, just checked the team of the current home series. Has Pujara officially been shown the door? Cant really understand Rohit is still in red ball cricket ahead of Pujara.

Its mindless. Nothing to lose with so much wealth. Batting is disastrous but so is bowling. Our strike bowler included. He is no where near great fast bowlers if you look at his strike rate and average.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I would be surprised if Australia don't smash us 5-0 in BGT. We are at our lowest point and there for the taking.

And an embarassing home whitewash in this series looms before that.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Now that pitch isn't doing too much, there is still little hope with Ashwin and Jadeja at the crease. If they can make it to 250 we still have chance.
