Re: The Cricket Thread

Nothing can change in Test cricket when you play with a bunch of overpaid, club cricket IPL stars, same story repeating! 3 wickets down in the first session, damn these batsmen can’t last even 3 sessions of play.

We can say things like this Aussie side has ageing bowlers not at the best in terms of fitness, batting isn’t very strong etc but the fact is that they’ve been relentlessly chipping away at the Indian batsmen and quite successfully at that!

We just don’t have the hunger to compete and win anymore, rather just wanting to go through the motions and be done with the series.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Got up and it's 57/3.

Familiar sights irrespective of captaincy changed. KL is back to his mediocrity and justifying his career average of 34. Gill still can't play overseas. Let's see how long Kohli can survive off side.

Re: The Cricket Thread

They should have really promoted Reddy above Pant, this is putting too much pressure on Pant to ask him to bat at number 5 game after game.

Kohli take a bow, consistency of next level.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Well Kohli gone now (same poking outside off). As I expected, the top order is down before 100 comes up and it will be again upto the lower order to score some runs!

No he can’t, falls for yet another outside off stump ball. People were advising him to watch Sachin’s iconic 241, looks like he is yet to get the DVD.

Edit : Everything happening at SCG. Pant coming down the track even after the open criticism from captain and coach. Jadeja with no feet movement poking on ball and Smith dropping a sitter.

It's one thing to watch and another to apply oneself. There is too much ego in there to force any change. He doesn't even have to wait for Sachin's DVD, Steve Smith has made a turnaround in the same series since Perth and Adelaide after which he made adjustments to his trigger movements and follow through. He battled it out in the Brisbane innings and the fruits of his labor were evident from there onward. As I have mentioned before, the commitment and hunger is just not there from these star players.
There was not one wicket that was lost as a result of supreme bowling. They were tight, disciplined and used the conditions to their favor. But all our players fell to shots that did not need to be played. Even Jaddu just got a life playing a shot there was no need to.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Most of the star players have not played domestic cricket for decades now; how can one expect them to play test matches? Rohit opted out, but what will you do with inconsistent performers like Gill, Rahul, and Jadeja? Looks like Gill is now in action off the cricket field.

This is 200% right. The captaincy drama affected him and his focus and he has struggled to get back to his normal self since then. Resigning from T20 captaincy and announcing to the media that he will continue to lead in the other two formats rubbed the BCCI the wrong way. With Saurav at the helm, it became even worse.

Now it is very obvious that Virat is not 100% tuned in. International cricket is a place where anything even remotely less than 100% focus and 100% switched on means you are screwed.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Lets wait on passing judgement on today's batting performance till both teams have had a chance to bat.

Its not often that even the 5th bowler debutant all-rounder goes at under 1.5 runs per over with an overall run rate of just about 2/over.

There is a lot of movement, sideways AND extra bounce in the pitch and batting has not been easy. Rishabh fought really hard for his 40 runs. Ball has been moving around even after being 60+ overs old, there has hardly been a respite.

I hope Jaddu and Washy can cash in on the old ball because there is very little chance the tail will last even 10 overs on the 2nd new ball.

Edit: Jaddu is gone as well. Rohit probably looked at the pitch before 'Opting out'. No way he would have been of any use here.

Why the hell Australia board can't afford Hot Spot, such stupid DRS setup. It seems every time there is a dubious decision, it has gone against us.

Re: The Cricket Thread

168/8, Heading for another sub 200 score which means this test is gone, bye bye BGT 1-3

What a shame, must hand it to Australia for the way they’re strategically tearing down the overhyped Indian batting and decimating India!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Well well well, This match is having a lot of Perth-like vibes. Everyone thought Australia was in the driver's seat until Bumrah ran through the Aussies top order. Wouldn't be surprised to see that gets repeated.

But Australia being Australia, might learn from their mistakes unlike India, high chances of them scoring big too

Most probably yes . He would've thought that instead of lasting maximum 3 balls here, let my PR team use this opportunity to play the 'selfless' & 'injustice to a legend' card

Except his die hard fans, guess that card is now long passed. Australian media will make a mockery of Sharma Sahib again tomorrow.

Last 6 tests, 5 lost, 1 drawn due to rain, amazing record to retire.

Bumrah has already outscored our ex-captain in this series, let that sink in.

Possible but I think Board still has to pay broadcasters.
