Re: The Cricket Thread

How can a guy keep getting out the same way and not lose his mind?

Re: The Cricket Thread

And just like that Kohli is gone edging the ball again outside off. How much does it take for a top level international player to make an adjustment to his game when it has become such a glaring thing?

One Aussie player actually said that even if Kohli leaves a lot of balls outside off in the beginning he goes back to pushing at them when he is set. So they just need to get back to bowling at the same line again and he will simply gift them his wicket.

Unimaginable!

And clearly he is not reading TBHP as well.

I am not an ardent Sachin fan, but I appreciate him so much for his discipline and control during his innings of 241* against Australia back in the day where he restrained himself from playing even a single cover drive. Guess that is what makes a player like Sachin a true legend. More than talent, discipline draws the thin line between Good and Great.

Sachin had a wide array and range of shots to play for each ball. Even without coverdrive, he had many other scoring capabilities on off side. He adapts to condition pretty quickly and adjusts his strokeplay.

Kohli is limited in that front. He's too good at some shots and relies heavily on them to score, cover drive being one of those.

Re: The Cricket Thread

BCCI should thank Virat Kohli and show him the door. Additionally they should set the expectation of not selecting him for the foreseeable future.
ECB did the same with James Anderson even though he was performing.
Atleast take a leaf out of it and save our blood which just boils through the roof everytime he gets out pathetically.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Pant is playing absolutely beauty. This is the kind of innings this type of pitch needs at this moment. If he can carry for some time and get the lead across 200 then we are winning this easily.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rohit Sharma's interview showed why he has gone down in recent times; with what he has achieved since 2023, it was so much of arrogance and bullying the people who have criticized him. My friend, you should have shown your attitude on the field and not in front of the camera. The end is near for him, and it would be better if he exited with some respect. It is the same people behind the mic or with a laptop needed for all your strategies and corrective actions.

Re: The Cricket Thread

So you live by the sword and you die by the sword.

But on this pitch it’s half job done, atleast got some runs on the scoreboard by his “pantastic” shots !!

Edit - Unfortunately Reddy ain’t ready. This pitch looks unplayable at times.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Great job from Rishabh. Kohli, Gill & KL were disappointing once again. The lead is 130. Hopefully the last 5 can push it to 250. With Bumrah returning from his scans and the pitch having a high amount of seam and bounce, it's game on!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Kudos to Rishabh Pant for standing strong and smashing a 29-ball half century. The Aussies did look clueless for a while there, as Pant smashed the ball to all areas of the ground.

Keeping fingers crossed that Jadeja hangs in there.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Even a 200 run lead looks unlikely from here. What a disaster. If not for Pant’s heroics, even 150 looked unlikely. Only a Bumrah special can save this match hereon else we are looking at 3-1 defeat

Hope he gets the hell out of the team himself. It’s just too painful & irritating to watch.

Hate to sound cynical, but a 3-1 washout is what it's seeming like, increasingly. Only and only a miracle can prevent that.

From where I am looking, Pant's innings was nothing short of a miracle.

Just one more miracle required from Jaddu / Sundar.

Sundar seems to be the likelier candidate to pull it off.

Another 20odd from the skipper and we will be in touching distance of 200.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Meanwhile SA at mammoth 557/7 and going on at day 2.

Excellent performances by Bavuma (100) and Rickleton (259), good to see Bavuma now converting 50s in to 100s, the pitch doesnt offer much, hopefully Maharaj can come in to play, its hard toil for the seamers, if they can get 600 plus scoreboard pressure can play a part too.

Team showing some form before playing WTC final. Waiting to see what Pakistan has to offer.

For Ind vs Aussie;

Everyone is praying for Bumrah the bowler. I am here praying for Bumrah the batter.
Injury or not, “Bumrahdman” will definitely show up and would be the key for the match result.
