His PR team was still in action praising his 28 runs in the second innings with a strike rate close to 100 Nothing can save us from this guy, he’s stuck to the Indian team and captaincy!

Yeah, with additional 2 umpires in Mumbai team. I don’t know if you saw the match, they gave 3 set batsmen of J&K out in first innings to dubious LBW’s. Then in 2nd innings of Mumbai, Iyer was caught behind which they declined to give, even commentators were laughing at the decision. Their words “sabko sunai diya, Lekin jisko sunai dena tha usko nahi suna” It was a huge nick and deflection. Thakur was plumb in front but not given out, Almost all spectacular catches taken by J&K blokes were referred to 3-umpire, there was no need, but becoz Rahane wanted the umpire to have another look and Iyer refusing to go off the field.

Then last wicket of Mumbai Awasthi (I think) was clear LBW and ran for the run to be run-out (karma)

Over decades, lot of things have changed in Mumbai cricket, but umpiring favouring the Mumbai teams, be it VHT, SMAT or Ranji, all mumbai associated teams are known to influence umpires to make critical decisions in their favor. I guess becoz Mumbai cricketers are generally rich and can influence poor umpires.

Thank god Rohit and Kohli retired from t20.
That's why now gems like Tilak Verma get the opportunity to shine. Exciting game today and what a mature innings by Tilak. The boy has real gumption and bishnoi is such a sweetheart in his interviews plus he can bat according to the situation when needed. Arshdeep should be designated no.11. He has zero match awareness whole batting and this has happened many times now. I don't have hopes for test team now so will concentrate on white ball cricket for a while.

True, that was a very mature innings and Tilak will go a long way!

I am still confused with our selectors unusual selection of Jurel over Rinku or Nitish Reddy!

Mumbai and Punjab lobby are most powerful lobbies in domestic cricket circuit that influences many things including key selection. Umpires being biased for Mumbai is fairly understood! Wonder why they dont use DRS in Ranji.

Both of them are injured, and NKR is out of the series while Rinku is out for couple of matches.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rohith never fails to entertain fans, whether on the field or during press conferences. However, in the last few months, he has turned into a joke, both on and off the field, due to his poor performances and inconsistent, often crazy statements. Here's one such recent instance-

See this is what I was referring to earlier. It was clear daylight robbery for J&K. Good they lodged an official complaint against unfair umpiring. The worst is they were umpires on elite panel, I don’t know what eliteness they had.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Lord Shardul Thakur takes a hat-trick against Meghalaya and sets the tone for the match. Mumbai is looking for a straight win with a bonus point to reach 29 points for knock out stages. Without bonus point they won't make it to the next stage. Things changes for Mumbai as soon as the unwanted baggage (Rohit + Iyer) are offloaded.

Looks like BCCI will be compelled to book his English summer flight tickets.

Would be interested to see some new faces like Anshul Kamboj aka AK-47 for future tours taking bowling responsibilities rather than GG's water boy/puppet Rana.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The king disappointed the Delhi crowd who had come in big numbers and the fans moving out of the stadium after the struggle of 15 ball ends, even the Ranji bowlers knows his weakness but this was a different dismissal when the king was clean bowled with his stump cart wheeling off an incoming delivery rather than giving a slip catching practice.

English summer doesn’t look good from now on !!

King Kohli out for 6, clean bowled against Railways.

Kudos to the Railways for dismissing him in a different manner than caught behind the wicket! So much for him having 'driven in in his black Porsche' & 'ate kadi chawal with teammates' hype by his PR/media!!

Come on man, give some credit to the king. He has spent a lot of time working on his batting and did not edge behind this time. Runs are not important for him anymore, he has to prove his critics wrong by not getting out in Slip cordon.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The fans are responsible for this superstar culture plaguing our nation. This idol worshipping is really a curse. I fully expected Kohli to fail just like Rohit. They both don't play domestic cos they are past their time. Being forced to play now everyone can see the results. Unfortunately selectors have no spine as bcci still wants to make more money from both their names.

I am quite sure both of them will be selected for England tour and On the other hand Shardul who is performing superbly will be ignored.

Edit- just saw the video of his dismissal. Now he has issue with the incoming ball too. And same surprise Pikachu face when he got bowled as if it was the ball of century. It was a simple straighter ball on middle and leg which didn't even swing much. He was just trying to play a flashy on drive.

He has lost his hand-eye coordination for a long time. He can not play swing or seam in any direction. It's just that the fifth stump line problem is so well known and none even tries anything new against him now. He can only perform on a fully flat wicket after openers have negotiated the new ball.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Sadly, even Cricinfo has succumbed.

Live commentary for the Ranji match in which his highness was playing. And even then only for a short while. Stopped pretty quickly after the grumpy one got out.

Like I posted earlier, everyone gives these superstars extra attention to serve their own ends. Cricinfo knew there would be extra eyeballs, so they did this. Makes business sense, but also adds to this 'special' treatment/culture. Reminds me of the time the BBMP tarred only the road leading from the old Bangalore airport towards the central part of the city because the President was visiting. He was not returning to that airport, was flying out of the new airport, so they didn't bother tarring the other side! Of course for the tens of thousands of tax paying citizens using the bad roads everyday, no such consideration!

We should do what the Aussies do, have less respect for what someone has done in the distant past or their title/age/seniority. Tell me what you can do today, or get the heck out of the team!

But hasn't this been happening for a long time?
This culture existed even 20-30 years ago.

In my observation, this madness started after our World Cup win in the '80s. Cricketers gained much fame and fan following. After the Tendulkar and Dravid era, it reached new heights. With advent of social media, it just added fuel to the fire.
