Damn! Ganguly is out. Although I was unhappy Ganguly got into the test team, now I am even more unhappy he is out.
Ganguly got back into the team for all the wrong reasons, mainly politics. But he worked hard and justified his selection by playing well in the second Test. But the whole political situation in BCCI changed during this time. Now the very politics that brought him in, got him out. This is no way to treat a former captain, the most successful one at that.

Well the way things are going... I knew it the day Pawar saheb decided to enter the fray. He will now change BCCI into another full-fledged political akhada. Signs are already there. First the three selectors who supported Ganguly's inclusion in the test team were summarily sacked and now even Ganguly has been dropped. And it all reeks of petty politics, one of the lowest order. As they were saying yesterday on NDTV, selectors job they say is thankless but they are only making it more difficult.
Uhuh... I believe there should be some rule that keeps some offices of influence (like BCCI) out of reach of politicians. If they start getting into everything they will simply spoil the party. :p

I agree.
I was kinda neutral to his getting back in to thet test squad (altho I have always liked his mean/aggressive streak) and I somehow wanted him to do well in the tests (which he did IMO).
How Gambhir's inclusion can be justified and not Ganguly's is beyond me.
What a bunch of jerks our MP's are ! they want to discuss the ganguly issue in the parliament ! for God's sake , guys !!
I mean what happened has happened ! personally ganguly had it coming the way he played favourites with some of his chamchas in the team - now he gets the same treatment and the people from bengal go beserk ! come on guys - get a life!
I 've always heard ganguly saying "you get back what you give" .. I think he is just getting that .He has been playing politics in and out the team ,now is his turn to face the music .
I would say he deserves this treatment !
back to the topic - Now that the whole bengal is giving him the support , pawar is under pressure to take him back in the team and i think soon he 'll be in the team cos pawar is a politician first ..
Fresh debate seems to have emerged after dropping of Ganguly, so thought of reviving this thread.
It seems media has nothing else to do than chewing on Ganguly saga. I wonder, why Chappel had to shoot his big mouth again on this, when he know how sensitive (and divided) are Indian cricket lovers on this topic. To me, chances of Ganguly's return are diminishing day by day. He should retire gracefully than getting humiliated like this. Or, keep on playing domestic cricket to prove himself.
what has this man got with greg....every week i hear a different news.....i dont think he would be able to make it back even to the test team

agree: with you but to now retire gracefully, he would need to be given a chance to play & then retire which I suppose he is not in a position to do!
On a different note, though I'm not being racist here, I really think that Chappell is going too far. I would strongly support Ganguly if he filed a defamation suit against him for slander........I'm seriously wondering if the Aussie media & public would have put up with an Indian coach (say even a Gavaskar or Shastri) going after an Aussie ex-captain and maligning him day in day out? By now, the coach would have been lynched from the nearest tree or on a flight home! And here you have an Aussie running the Indian team the way he feels like.....

Totally agree - greg is making statements which are not inline with his current position as coach of the team - he should be more interested in making the team perform better than taking a grudge fight against ganguly. And now its down to personal statements about ganguly's finances - man, thats hitting below the belt
But then again, maybe he's got bitten by the politics bug that plagues our BCCI & the selector squad
ok we're indians and so HOW can we not have even a thread in an indian forum without cricket?????
anyway, let's see what you all have to say after the indian team's pathetic/shocking/disgusting/humiliating/infuriating/agonizing/painful loss yesteday?
don't u think the media's being too soft on dravid......what about the ganguly issue....... tendulkar's bad run.....sehwag......pathan......
cmon!
and yeah i have a few things to say about him, but i'll go on with that depending on how this thread goes along.......
I dont think that we should blame Dravid all too much. The following let us down -
1) The decision to field first
2) Our pathetic catching
3) The failure of the batsmen
4) Sending out two night watchmen on the fourth day
I can blame Dravid on points 1 and 4. But those are not unpardonable. What are is pathetic are points 2 and 3. And there I do not think Dravid can do much.
But yes I agree, Sachin deserves to be dropped now. As does Virender Sehwag who to me is all show and no go except on really dead pitches. The guy is not even physically fit. And how many matches has he played to be out of shape I wonder.
The only positive was the bowling. It needs improvement, but it will get there. Sreesanth was good. Munaf Patel was fabulous. Let us hope we give it back to England really strongly in the ODIs.

Firstly, there are threads on cricket. Just do a search.
Now, do you mean that being Indian means we MUST love cricket? Jeez! BTW, isn't our National sport Hockey?

okk! chill, i didnt search... and yeah ok, im not saying u'all HAVe to love cricket, just saying that since its got such a huge following in our country, i'd expect a thread or two be based on it...no need to take any aggressive meaning from that!! i take it u hate the game huh.....
regarding hockey, yeah its our national sport ... good game and stuff but i personaly dont know that muc h about it, so rather then making uneducated posts on that and make everything sound stupid , why not cricket?
anyway, let's specify this thread to india's run in the past few months.

haha. no! But I hate the way the Indian media changes its mind every day. One day we are the best in the world, the next, we are the worst. What happened to supporting your team whether they win or lose?
Anyways, as viper said, the most popular sport
