Re: The Cricket Thread

I think it was a very good performance by us yesterday. Its not easy to lift yourself up after grand humiliation in tests.
Now areas which need to be addressed-
1.- Opening combination. Dhawan needs to go and Nohit should be told to score quickly rather than playing selfish all the time.
2.- Death bowling.
We solve these and we can build a very good team.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Let us not get too excited with yesterday's win! Remember we had also won the Lord's Test but what happened after that. There are still 3 matches to go. Whenever Jadeja, Ashwin & Raina strangle the opposition, you know Dhoni is under control! Without a doubt, our death bowling will be exposed sometime in the series & on the other hand we have Umesh Yadav who is giving interviews as to how he can bowl yorkers now after Wasim Akram taught him so.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Glad India won something, actually 2 games.

English are worst one day team in the history for a top cricketing nation. They are worse than WI these days. So should winning against them should make me feel happy ? I don't know..

Graeme Swan said very rightly about English ODI team strategy "We're happy to tootle along in a two-litre diesel in a Formula 1 race."

Re: The Cricket Thread

ODI cricket is the 'real cricket'!
Shikhar Dhawan gets to twirl his moustache after a couple of months.
The Test Series loss is already forgotten by majority of people.

I hope we can get our priorities right. There is no way India will do any better if we play 3 more tests against England right now.

Shikhar Dhawan - The man getting runs is bad for India actually. He is a walking wicket in Australia. I hope we can try a couple of openers in the ODI series in Australia before the WC.

Rahane is more or less settled at the top, so if the team decides to still go ahead with Nohit Sharma as the opener, then Shikar is out.

I still have doubts on Raydu, Mohit Sharma & Shami from this side.

Yes, and it's also time to prep for the World Cup next year!

Tests be damned, the shorter format is the way to go seems to be the motto if BCCI and the team too There's more moolah in this so why bother with 5 day cricket ? Oh so much of that time can be used for ODI's.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Leave it to BCCI (and its proxies in ICC) and soon the only form of cricket left in this world will be T-20.

Someone please tell MSD that he is not Rajanikanth!
He denied a single 3 times to Ambati Rayudu and india lost by 3 runs!
I know Dhoni is a good finisher but taking an easy match to this situation is nothing more than idiocy. :banghead:

Re: The Cricket Thread

So Windies team have pulled out of this series due to pay disputes with their Board! The series wasn't even interesting to begin with.
I can see already see the Sri Lankan team warming up & feelers being sent to BCCI.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Anyone following the series of excerpts from Sachin's autobiography. Looks like there is a lot of 'he said I said' kind of things
