I know it is too early to judge him. But still, after very long time we seems to have found a good left arm seamer and he has been dumped after just one match.
They should have included Rahul and dropped either Dhoni or Karthik. I don't know on what basis these decisions are taken

Karthik I'm not sure, he may very well be dropped soon if he fails.
But with Dhoni the team still wants him to play till the world cup at least so they will keep him in the team till then so that he gets enough match practice, unless of course he himself wants a break/rest.
So, Pant as wicketkeeper in limited overs matches will have to wait it out till Dhoni bows out.

So, when are we going to change this 'culture'? Why is that a player has to decide when to retire? Is a player bigger than a team/country?
If you ask me, this is the perennial problem with some of the famous Indian players (including legendary Kapil, Sachin) and I am just waiting for a day when this 'culture' is rooted out!

If one keeps aside all the hype regarding this Ind-Pak match, at the end of the day its an inconsequential game in the context of the tournament as both teams have already qualified for the next round.

Dhoni should clearly play at number 4. Considering his age, he needs to get some time before going for the shots. I remember reading somewhere that playing your best 4 batsmen in the top 4 is a recipe for disaster but at this moment , Dhoni won't qualify to be one of them.

Bring in Pant in the team as a batsman alone, his wicket keeping anyways is quite horrible, no where close to Dhoni.

Pant is the best big hitting middle order batsman going around in India. The rest - Rayudu, Karthik, Pandey and Jadhav are no big hitters at all - no where close to what Dhoni, Yuvraj and Raina used to be in the past.

Bring in Jadhav and Pandya at 6 &7 respectively.

How can the team management not see the obvious is baffling and so infuriating!

Dhoni - He is well past his prime. May cost us the world cup single handedly.
Karthik - Averages 29 with the bat and he is playing as a specialist batsman.
Rayudu - Has a career strike rate of 76 in ODIs.
Bhuvneshwar - Averages almost 40 with the ball in ODIs, career economy rate of over 5.
Chahal - Mental midget, cannot bowl against non minnows even if his life depended on it. Cannot bat and cannot catch.
Shardul - Overweight and a below average trundler.
Jadhav - Chokes at the death while batting. His lollipop bowling isn't too flash either.

Apart from the openers and Kohli our batting is nothing. This middle order collapsed even against Hong Kong. And our only wicket takers are Bumrah and Kuldeep.

It's high time we give youngsters a proper go. Get Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal and Rishabh Pant into the team at the earliest. Khaleel has great potential, he should be playing every game. Even Axar Patel should replace Chahal from now on, bring back Jadeja too. Mohammad Siraj is in red hot form as well.

I mean, we can be such a huge force come the world cup. It's just disappointing to see the same old tried and tested failures being recycled.

All I see is bashing. No praise for the clinical performance yesterday? Of course we must criticize when required but not all the time. We played great cricket even after injury to Pandya the team carried on. Hopefully, this will continue.

Yes, Rahul needs to be played. In place of Dhoni as Kartik is doing all right till now. But, that's not gonna happen. So, the only change for next match will be Khaleel in for injured Pandya. Rayadu isn't a big match player and his strike rate is abysmal.

Do we have other 'keepers as good as Dhoni? If not, then might as well stick with him. He could also provide great captaincy inputs, only if Kohli were to listen to him though. It's not like he's a brilliant captain by himself.

If we really want to force Dhoni out, then might as well make Rahul do the job, just like the erstwhile Rahul Dravid experiment.

I think the keeping arguments, as far as limited over cricket is concerned, would be that you don't really need a specialist keeper. It's become an all rounder position. The keeper has to be able to contribute with the bat. I think we should seriously groom Pant in this position.

Ironically Dhoni himself joined the team because of his batting prowess, rather than his keeping. It is to his credit that he actually raised his game in all departments after joining the team.

Im guessing they sticking to Rayudu + DK combo since Kohli is not playing and our middle order is not a dependable. So they are opting for experience .

My guess is that Rohit is insecure. Because if Rahul does well then Rohit's opening spot will be in danger once Kohli is back.
