Damn You Never ever ever write these things.

But what a game though!

Sad to see the India SL game, we seem incorrigible. Keep winning bi-laterals and keep losing semis. Rather than challenging yourself, bat first and see where you go, keep trying the age old formula.

Surprised to see this catch not discussed here. That's a nonsensical way to interpret the law and give it out!

That's just NOT OUT.

It's a mockery of rules mate. There should be one which says that if the ball crosses the boundary line, it should be declared as a six. You cannot let fielders jump and then hit the ball back in the park.

As per rules, this catch is fair but the legality need some looking in.

TBH I think the catch is legally and morally correct as the first attempt was inside the rope. I feel the athleticism and the presence of mind should be rewarded.

If the fielder had anticipated the ball crossing the boundary and stood outside playing field to jump, catch, and relay throw it, I'd call that unfair even though it is well in the laws of the game.

I had seen this clip a few days ago elsewhere and I think we will never get unanimity on this topic. Here, I agree with Hemanth and VWAllStar. The rules needs to be updated to address this. For me, the catch can be allowed if either the pre-jump or the post-jump landing or both are inside the boundary. In this case, both were outside.

Re: The Cricket Thread

IndVsAus 1st ODI- Rohit-Dhawan-Rahul and Shreyas in playing 11. Now Kohli is starting to trial with his 1 down position? No way. Should Shreyas be switched from 2 to 3 down position? No he shouldn't. So where does Rahul stand? He should be travelling to NewZealand with A team. Period. Enough of his experiment please.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Kohli is coming in at number 4? I dont understand the logic. Why would you remove your best batsman from his most effective position?

We have not found our best number 4...Possibly he is the best one. In 20-20 he showed that he can do that. also all 3 of our openers are showing good form. So experimenting with Rahul if he can carry that form to number 3. In chasing however, Kohli might possibly come at 3.

Well I think he is a better number 3 (and the best) than a number 4.

By moving him to number 4, our best is no longer the best he can be and the one who takes his spot is not even a match.

KL Rahul should open or bat at 4. No way Kohli should bat anywhere other than 3. I don't intend to say that he would have scored a century today had he played at his normal position but there is simply no one better at that position than him and he is the best when he is at 3.

The match BTW is going all the way to Australia. I think they will win this one by 10 wickets!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Ind Vs Aus first ODI - probably going to be a big and easy win the way the Aussies are going, now 177/0 in 27 overs with Finch and Warner on 80+ and going great guns.

On most sub-continent pitches, anything less than 300 looks too easy these days for top teams.

Surely you are not saying that the best batsman in the world cannot adapt his game to a lowly No. 4 for the team?

As an former fast bowler who played the red ball for my university, it makes my heart glad when I see Mitchell Starc, Cummins, Bumra. Nothing to beat the joy of seeing a beautiful outswinger beating the daylights out of a batsman

No. I am saying the best number 3 needs to be at number 3 than one step down. If you need a number 4 look for one, groom one. It's as simple as that!
