Re: The Cricket Thread

India need to bat time and set Australia a target of at least 350. Mayank, Cheteshwar, Kohli, and Rahane have to bat time. Important to give the bowlers a full day of rest. India should deal with Lyon with a mix of caution and aggression by rotating strike against him.

Note: Seeing the state of this game - can't help but wonder whether 4 day tests are the future. Tests among stronger teams mostly see scores of 350 in the first innings. Rarely does a team score 500+ - if they do, the opposition (mostly WI, Afg or Bangladesh against the stronger teams) is mostly bowled out cheaply twice.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Excellent bowling by Indians on day 2 and despite pathetic catching (dropped 5 though one was tough), we managed to get some lead.

I just hope we can get some momentum today and not lose quick wickets, shouldn't lose the slight edge we have now

Hope Bumrah gets a decent score at #3!

Edit : oops, Bumrah out!

Edit 2: Pujara out on 0, India second innings tottering at 15 for 3!

Edit 3: Damn, Agarwal out, 15/4!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Ran out of post edit window, India in dire straits at 19/6 with Rahane and Kohli's wickets
This match is gone with one bad day 3 morning session of batting

Re: The Cricket Thread

Indian top and middle order sliced open by the relentless and incisive Aussie pacers. Fell like a pack of cards A 180 target and a full last session for us to bowl tonight is the only hope now.

Costed at least 50-60 runs there.

Lost the entire test within 30 minutes of brainfade batting. Heads need to roll after this humiliation, starting with that drunkard Shastri.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Wow I quickly came back home from service centre to watch the match and india already 36/9

What the hell happened? 100 target looks impossible. Shameful defeat

Edit: And they walk off with shami injured. Things just got worse. I doubt he will be able to bowl now. Hope he recovers before 2nd test

India dialled +4 92040 84041 today. The number that will haunt them forever.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Bumrah faced the third most number of deliveries in this innings. That pretty much sums up the story !

Re: The Cricket Thread

In hindsight, those dropped catches cost us 50-60 runs. Those runs are the difference between a target of 150 versus a sub 100 target.

Its a game and it happens but still , worst day for the Indian cricket. Hope the team will recover soon from this painful shock and get ready for the next two matches.

With such a pathetic batting display, we don't deserve to win this one, we are surely not a 36 all out test batting side in those conditions

Re: The Cricket Thread

Missed this very badly today. Just shows how many sessions as today were played out and such carnage dealt with precision by this man shielding the middle order !

Re: The Cricket Thread

Hazelwood was so precise. Shouldn't the batsmen have changed their stance to disturb his length?
They bowled really well and we didn't bat good
