Re: The Cricket Thread

Good first session for India on day 1 of the fourth test at Ahmedabad. England 15/2, both wickets to Axar Patel Axar has 20 wickets in just his third test!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Don’t understand English selection - 3 bowlers + Stokes? Are they looking to play out time with the long batting line up?

You win a test match only by taking 20 wickets, not scoring/blocking away.

He becomes the second person to do so in T20Is after Yuvraj Singh. All 6 shots were just effortless in typical Pollard style

For those who want to see the 6 sixes. Visuals are nothing compared to the Yuvraj hits. That was a world cup and a full house vs empty stands of a regular bilateral series. Top batting though.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Very bad or good day for the bowler Dhanajaya? What would he feel. Celebration or denial?

A record in one over - a Hatrick
A forgettable next over - 36 runs

What an irony! Well, that’s cricket and that’s why we love the game, don’t we.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Another lesser spoken about hero in the West Indian side is Jason Holder. The man is worth his weight in gold.

Hope Indian batsmen can capitalize on the start today. I really want to see daddy hundreds from Pujara & Kohli in this test match.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rahane really needs to step up today. He anyways plays only one good innings per series, so this has to be it.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Poor there from Rahane, just before lunch too. I don’t think India will get a 100 run lead this innings.

Looks like even that’s working for them going by the dismal batting display by our top & middle order except Rohit. Once again the responsibility is on Pant, Ashwin and Sundar to save the match. Looks like the series belongs to bowlers both with their bowling & batting

Re: The Cricket Thread

Pant is going berserk or what! Who would dare do a reverse sweep against Jimmy Anderson bowling with a new ball.

Loved watching that. England clearly are one bowler short. The struggle is now getting visible. Pant and Sundar have stitched a nice one already.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Century by Pant brought up with a 6. He stepped up the scoring with the new ball taken.

Out caught soon after though.

Pant has done once again for India what Gilchrist often did for the dominant Aussies.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I've never seen a batsman who has such bad balance while playing shots, play so damn well consistently. Take a bow, Mr Pant.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Top innings by Pant in the difficult situation that the team was in. One has to appreciate Washington Sundar’s batting too. It’s his 3rd fifty in four matches and all have come in crucial situations.
