There will be quite a few to put their hand up. Especially now that the team's performance is been in upward trend and will most likely be that way for another 3 to 4 years. Apart from the huge monetary benefits, coaching an Asian Team and seeing it perform is like having an IIM Degree with a campus placement at Tata Administrative Services.

Would like to see Stephen Fleming put his name in the list. Also wishlist would be - bowling coach: Zaheer Khan. Fielding Coach: M Kaif.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I think the entire ruckus from the England side was not just because Bumrah bowled bouncers but he bowled 4 no-balls. They all felt Bumrah was wantedly bowling no-balls so that he can have a go at Anderson. But they forget that of the 4 n-balls bowled two were yorkers. And Kohli removed Bumrah afterward. Also, Butler and Bairstow, who play in IPL, should have known that Bumrah is a more easy-going cricketer who generally doesn't resort to such tactics. In fact, Bumrah had already bowled many no-balls by then. Their conspiracy was Bumrah wanted to hurt Anderson rather than take his wicket which wasn't the case as Bumrah indeed bowled yorkers between the short balls.

As for 'Fire in the Babylon', I watched it a few years back and the aggressive bowling from the windies started off after the English, especially, Tony Greig, provoked them. The story goes that the Windies were having a team meet in the evening before match and heard Tony speak something insulting about the Windies team on the Radio. Nobody spoke anything then but the pace quartet decided then and there to show the English side what they are made of. This can be probably the point from which the Windies pace quartet became a force to reckon with and the team almost unbeatable. But importantly, the bowlers used to bowl a barrage of short deliveries and then a fuller one to take the wickets. If I recall correctly the 2 bouncers per over rule came in only after this series. Till then English and Aussies were fine with their bowlers dishing out the stuff. The entire Body line series was just that.

That most likely is where one would see Shastri, but I won't be surprised if he takes up an IPL coaching assignment after a break. Its only 2-3 months in a year where one has to work & pay is handsome. I hear Bharat Arun is already in talks with a few IPL teams!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Whoa, India 3 wickets down in quick time - Rohit is still there and Ajinkya cannot afford another Jinx

Finally when Kohli did win a toss, he decided to bat first when this ground has recently favoured the team batting second
Also, read a stat that in recent games here, top order has been wiped out quicky and so it seems to be happening yet again.

Anderson is on fire, interesting game on.

Pujara and Kohli again out while playing outside the off stump, so that trend continues.

Jinxed already

India in deep deep trouble with 4 down for 58. All hopes as usual on lower middle and lower order batsmen. BTW the senior citizen(Anderson) is on fire today. Watch out team India.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The sun is out now but I believe it was overcast in the 1st session & when you have a very good seam attack ideally you should have bowled first! With a misfiring middle order, Anderson was always going to be a threat in overcast conditions. 67-7 now & India staring down the barrel. Good chance this will be a 3-4 day test now!!

I really hope they cross the 100 mark!! Both rescuers of last match Shami and Bumrah went for ducks.
