Tomorrow's first session especially the first hour is key. If Kohli and Pujara can see the team through that, then batting will be easier. Obviously, easier said than done, but we have lots to draw inspiration from today's play.

Re: The Cricket Thread

If India bats for the whole of Day 4, then we can expect a draw at least. Happy to see Pujara back in form. Everything now depends on how India performs on Day 4. Also India needs to score around 500 runs to have a decent score to defend on the final day.
Would love to see Pujara score a Double Century tho.

Agree. It's about the first hour or two. Of they stay not out, I won't rule out anything

If they fall then well curtains.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Gavaskar was saying that we will go over their score by atleast 150 runs. Let that come true.

I wish the spinners continued for a few more overs. Root played smart to close the day early.

It now boils down to the first 60 minutes of tomorrow and how well we navigate. Fingers crossed.

Why do I feel we might win this test.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Brilliant fightback.. Puji deserves the praise and for once Kohli looks assured.

Although in my mind it's stil a lost match. Still hope is there for a turnaround.
Also some things to look forward to -
Puji 100.
Kohli 50 or 100.
Pant and Jadeja lower guard thriller action.
Avoiding innings defeat.
Getting some lead.
Bowlers doing a fightback.

Even if we lose this match there is a fight going on and that's what matters for us to win the next 2.

Join in to a crowd positivity and prayers! I too felt its a lost cause post 1st innings, but now I am hopeful for a turn around. Pujara & Kohli are more than capable of repeating what Dravid & Laxman did to Australia.
We may just need someone like Bhajji to turn this into a victory.

If these 2 bat for 2 hours today, then we may see India posting a target in 200s. More than that we would see Kohli's animated celebrations on getting his century

Any predictions how Kohli would celebrate?

Remembering Ben Stokes multiple times
High Jump and punch in the air to qualify for next Olympics
Gestures thanking Mrs. Kohli and their daughter

Re: The Cricket Thread

Something tells me that it’s be a muted celebration when he gets his century. Muted for the first 4-5 seconds before reality hits him and the wildness begins.

Whatever way he wants to celebrate today, he will have my vote, if he does manage to get 3 figures. That’s all I care from him for today.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The opening partnership was brilliant even though they didn't score a lot of runs. While Pujara had a great knock, I feel Anderson had a rare off day. So many balls on the pads flicked and glanced to boundaries. Both Pujara and Kohli got their eye in due to freebies by English bowlers.

I love the way this team fights irrespective of the end result. But I don't see Anderson having another consecutive bad day. I would be a very happy man if India is still batting at stumps on Day 4. If this pair negotiates the first hour and the sun shines we stand a chance (fingers crossed)

Alas- that's not to be. Bad judgement by Pujara, out lbw. All rests on Kohli, Rahane and Jadeja now.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rahane has played his last match of the series. High time he is replaced with someone like Surya or Shreyas.

Robinson is like an Egoist Shopper. He just takes wickets when its pricked.

Oh My God.

This unraveled faster than the proverbial falling like nine pins.

Hopefully we see some changes to the Batting order in the next test and the series does not follow the same script as 2014.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Fittingly all out at 278. Sometimes coincidences bring great insights.
