Let's give a break. Let him play. We need to respect the individuals. He has done so much for indian cricket and is currently the highest wicket taker. The above comment, imo, is uncalled far. If Kumble would have played, who knows he would have grabbed maybe more wickets.

He is in bad form. He played the first match and failed to pick up a single wicket. Lets not go by reputations and play the people who are more likely to take wickets.

Kumble is an Indian great but does not justify a position in the team right now.

I rechecked, all of them are working. Maybe something wrong with your browser settings or firewall.

We should not discard away if he has not taken any wickets in 1st test. In that case, we should also have not picked up couple of other players as they have not performed consistently. Just because they have to create records, they are in still hanging in team. Eg: If you take up an exam and fail in one subject, will you npt reappear for passing it out? The same applies here also. The key is not taking wickets in one game, he should perform consistently.

The selectors have not spoken about this. None of the tv channels is discussing about this in their analysis with past great players. It is left best to the selection committee and the individual players.

Very true. AFAIK, the gentleman that he is, he will opt out of the Delhi test.

He has been out of touch since the Sri Lanka series.

He is a gentleman no doubt but he is not going to opt out for sure.
And not even SL series he has not taken any specific wickets in Australia or in home series against SA as well.
He is out of form clearly and needs to go back to Domestic to get back in form.

I disagree. I think it should be discussed right now. You see, Kumble might play the next match and chances are that he might do ok. But the point of discussion is, should he be playing in the first place ? The odds of him doing well coz of form and fitness are against him.

E_L: Unless the statement is a part of the mental game, I dont see Kumble sitting out voluntarily. See this

Cricinfo - 'I'm raring to go at the Kotla' - Kumble

We should just go by who is a better fit at this moment. At this specific point in time, form suggests it is Mishra. If we go with Kumble, that is clearly a compromise. It is unfortunate, but there are no domestic games in between for Kumble to either prove his witness or to gather form.

And in Indian cricket - compromise is what is done always.

I feel Mishra will have to sit out in Delhi. Kumble is not going to sit out even if half fit.

But what if Dhoni was handed over the captaincy and he opted for Mishra over Kumble ?
