Now Ganguly says SRT should retire?
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cri...v-Ganguly.html

Wasnt he the one who was blasting the media a few days back for criticizing SRT?

What was he smoking when he wrote this. Can't believe this is coming from a former India player.

Mohinder Amarnath today named BCCI president N Srinivasan as the person who overruled the "unanimous" decision to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni as captain after India's eight consecutive overseas Test defeats.

"It was a unanimous decision, all five selectors supported it. The Board President (Srinivasan) did not approve the unanimous decision to replace Mahendra Singh Dhoni," Amarnath told CNN-IBN.

"Why do you need a selection committee there if one person needs to be at the helm of affairs. We should not be there. Who knows the constitution of BCCI? Is the current selection committee aware of it? I was not aware of the constitution of BCCI" he said.

True it is an achievement. But consider the pitches. In one of those 2 matches, just 2 innings (1 each from each team) were completed in the match and in the other just one & half were completed, with still 7 wickets left in the 2nd innings of the match.

Chawla's inclusion is really bad decision. Why they have overlooked Mishra?
Jadeja gets ahead of Rahane (in place of Yuvraj). Rahane is better batsman & has better record than Jadeja. Its batting which India needs now. BTW, Zaheer is replaced by Chawla. So tha team has 1 seamer & 4 spinners.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Dhoni seems to have fascination for Chawla & Jadeja. I don't understand Chawla's inclusion, he has been performing poorly in Ranji but still gets chances after chances.
I don't agree with Jadeja's inclusion but get that they might want to replace left hand batsman with another. Poor Rahane must be & wondering what he has to do.

Umpiring errors: BCCI not using DRS has to be biggest joke of this decade.

It'll probably be 150/3 at stumps today. The spectators must be snoring away.

Re: The Cricket Thread

A track that requires a minimum of 2 seamers. And Dhoni has gone with 4 spinners and left Ishant Sharma to do all the work. Poor sod. This is why fast bowlers get injured so quickly.

Dhoni needs a dressing down. His T20 tactics aren't going to work in Test Matches.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Most boring opening day of a test match in recent times.
With England hell bent to play for a draw and Dhoni helping them by some ridiculous team and field selections. If we had one more pacer instead of Chawla who is an average bowler then the story would have been different.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Indian cricket team is actually playing two matches simultaneously

One is within the team Dhoni vs Seniors ( some of them)

Second is India Vs England

No wonder India is losing.

Chawla is the highest wicket taker with 4 scalps

Re: The Cricket Thread

This is increasingly looking like a 1-3 reversal for us.

MSD continues to display some insipid and unimaginative captaincy in Test matches. He is one of main reasons we've struggled in the last 18 months or so and find ourselves languishing at fifth place in the ICC Test rankings. I think the time has come for a major overhaul.

Chawla cleaned up the tail. Which itself took much longer than it should have. I think Dinda would have been a better proposition given the dynamics of the track. But hey, I'm not a part of the selection committee.

Getting facts from Cricinfo is one thing, but actually watching how those wickets were taken is another. Apart from Bell's wicket, the other 3 wickets came at the fag-end of the English innings. Perhaps I should have phrased my post better?

Fact of the matter is Ishant Sharma needed support from a fellow seam-bowler at the other end. And he did not have that.
