Mr Dhonut has this habit of promoting himself up the order. He should do that against pace and swing and lets see whether his temperament comes to the rescue. We have far too many players in the current line up with technical flaws and that's our biggest problem IMO.

IND 65/4 and the CSK pair gets another opportunity to cement thier places in the team by playing test.

I sincerely hope the selectors select some new players for the Ind-Eng series. Sehwag will certainly be out of the team.

The score now reads 111-6 :-(. Indian cricket is making me sick!!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Thread hasn't been updated for some time. Its already 141/8.
Hopes of even 200 are now lost. Around 150 would be the target for Pakistan. Easily achiveable, isn't it?

If this would be the form of Indian batting lineup, whats going to happen during Eng series?

If its just the poor form the issue, there is nothing to worry. It will only be a matter of time, a couple of more matches that they get back to amongst runs. But If the root cause is the lack quality and skill ?

As I type one more wicket is down and in the first ball of the next over Jadeja takes a single to expose the 11th man.

Oops Jaddu smokes one for a SIX

only to get out in the same over.

IND 167 all out. What a show and what an effort from the Indian players!!!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Oh yes. Seems I was lost for words or indulged in the tv.
Quality and determination is the matter. Need motivation.

As i type, its all over. Jadeja finds a filder in the deep at long on.

2 T20's and 3 onedays are enough to let the team know theres something worng in the strategy and need to look over.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Switched off the tv when Pak were 100 for 3 thinking they would win easy but shocked to just find Indian win!
Although an inconsequential win i'm more upset that i missed out watching a thrilling match!

A funny tweet i came across:

'Indian team celebrating like a school kid who passed the 10th std English exam after having already flunked Maths & Science!'

Re: The Cricket Thread

Hi everybody
Here is an excerpt from Bobilli Vijaykumar's article(6/1/13 times of India page 23).
Would there be a grain of truth I leave you to decide.
Regards

Similarly, Jadeja should be told that he is not the pinch-hitter now the team’s all-rounder; he is not a specialist batsman or a full-time spinner either. Poor fellow, how many roles can he perform? Can we stop confusing him and let him do whatever he thinks he is good at?
Finally, a word of advice for Rahane, Tiwari, Dhawan and all other talented aspirants: forget performing match after match. Just sign up with either Chennai Super Kings or a good player management company, like Jadeja, Raina, Piyush etc have done.

You know, even a super batsman like Lara didn't have that great a technique. Just because Sunil Gavaskar/Manjrekar type technician batsmen have occupied the commentary box and the news bytes, doesn't mean that technique is the be all and end all of success as a batsmen. The minimum threshold of technique is met by all who reach international cricket level. After that, success is defined by the temperament, intelligence, anticipation, and cricketing skills, and most importantly knowing the limitations of your style of play.

Azharuddin had issues in his technique, G.R.Viswanath had issues in his technique, Ganguly had issues in his technique, Hayden had issues with his technique, steve waugh had issues with his technique. oh god, where do you start - pick out cricket's whos who, and there will be issues with technique with half. Hell, Bradman was supposed to have issues with technique.

Agree that good technique cannot guarantee success on the field. All I am saying is the current crop of baseball hitters will not take us anywhere.
Do you think their technique (minumum threshold) will stand against quality attack overseas?

Kamran Akmal must have dropped few catches

Even Dhoni dropped Misbah once. Rahane (at leg-slip) dropped Hafeez when he tried to paddle the ball fine down the leg side. These were pretty straight-forward chances.

That said, it was a very weird run-chase. It certainly seemed like there was something fishy going on. Some of the balls our bowlers bowled were lollies!

A well deserved ban for 'Shame Warne' . Quite an ugly incident.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Even I think something was fishy because Mibah wasted too many balls. On a normal day, he would thrashed those to mid wicket or covers for a boundary. Who knows in cricket anything can happen that is off the field
